Exactly the same problem. Canon say it is a fault with the machine and have given me 3 addresses to send it for repairs but it will be cheaper to buy a new one and throw away all the new cartridges

I did this and it worked: empty the color cartridge all the way, refill the cartridge until ink bubbles out of the top and drips out of the bottom , tape the top of the cartridge with clear scotch tape, wait 15 minutes... put it back in the printer, do regular cleaning (not deep cleaning) once ,then deep cleaning 2 times,
should work after that
refilling works better than buying a new cartridge beacuse it puts more ink into the cardridge
I have the same problem. At first I thought the printhead clogged but dipping it in solvent did not work. I guess the only thing we could do is to buy a new print head, but at the cost it's going at, we might as well get a new printer. Other than that try sent a RMA.

go to controlpanel>printer> ur printer driver..
check the settings..
if u r unknown of the settings restore default
if u r printing from ms word see the print options and in advanced there will b the link to print color.
check the appropriate one .
there u go.
now print as much as u want
by which I infer that Black only documents are ok, colored ones fail
the color ink cartridge is not seated properly, or is empty,
the OEM cartridges supplied with the unit are not full, dont last long, and dry up if unused
the connectors between the cartridge and the printer get dirty and may need to be cleaned
or there may still be the plastic security tab on the color cartridge.
Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly
When
replacing the ink tanks, confirm that the new ink tanks are installed
properly. If the ink tanks are not locked into place, paper may not be
fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head.
Check that the printer is powered on and open the front cover.
Wait until the print head moves to the center.
Check if the ink tanks are installed properly.
Ink tanks installed correctly
Ink tanks installed incorrectly
When installing the ink tanks, push the top of the ink tank until a click sound is made.
Note: If the ink tanks are not installed properly, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be ejected.
