NEW gcc-h23n will not read anything

When pc is first turned on lights on cd rewriter come on but does not show up on control panel when I search for new hardware it can not be found when i first bought my lg dvd / cd rom drive gcc h23n i can play any kinds of dvd but no i can longer play any dvd. when i insert my dvd nothing happens, but if i insert cd, vcd and mp3 it works please help me

If not reading DVD is a pattern (it won;t read ANY DVD, no matter if it's a burned one or an original movie) then the lens is dead. I'm afraid you'll have to go get a new one (new drives are very cheap, usually around 25-30$)

I need driver for cd rewriter/DVD-ROM Drive LG model:GCC-H23N.

Unless you are running a very old version of windows, your CD-ROM should be automatically detected and drive installed upon startup. Check your BIOS settings and make sure there are no conflicts there.

The problem with my LG HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-H23N is that it can read a vcd but it cannot jus read the dvd. It will insist on insert disc when you put a dvd in it, and yet I have all the power dvd software...

Combo drives have 2 lasers inside of them. An IR laser to read CD/VCD and a red laser to read DVD. It sounds like your laser to read DVD discs is dirty or has developed a fault. A replacement drive would be your best option as they are now very cheap and it will resolve the issue quickly.

My LG combo drive HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-H23N does not read dvd but reads cd

Try to open the device, and clean with some medicinal alcohol the lens of the drive, and clean the dust from it.
Assemble it and see if it works. In this cases there is a high opportunity for the client to make an upgrade and buy a DVD-RW

My LG CD-RW/DVD drive Model:GCC-H23N cannot read any kind of disc please help me send me answer at my e-mail at [email protected]

Make sure (ide) if the jumpers are set correctly ie master - slave - cable select
Some time you need the BIOS to detect the drive and it's position like secondary drive O set for AUTO
Then if that is good, go to LG's site and look for the latest Firmware for your model under support-download and drivers
And finally is it compatible with Vista..or what Operating System you are using.
And finally get a laser lens cleaner and clean the player's lens. It looks like a cd with an eyelashes glue on it. kennsington makes them and several other companies.
Barring all that a combo drive like your can be replace for $15-$20 pending where you shop.
I do like the LG brand...don't like Lite-On but hey that is just me.

may be some dust in ur dvd drive man ...just try to clean u r lens by a lens cleaner disk..which is ablable in market with a liquid...
