We have a 2-year old 30-in gas slide in range (Model #KGSSS907SSS02). We used the self-cleaning feature for the first time last evening. The oven was lightly soiled so opted for 2.50 hour cycle. This morning we came down to the oven lights on and they won't shut off, even with disconnecting the power supply once . We thought that might reset its brain power. Even though the oven was only lightly soiled we noticed that some soil remained so decided to do another self cleaning cycle. We cannot start the self cleaning cycle. After a few seconds of pushing the self clean button, the panel says "close oven door" (it was not open) and then says "clean completed". All other buttons on the panel work to heat oven, etc. Any suggestions?

The first thing to check is the switch on the door to make sure that it is not loose or broken.

Thanks Brad Brown. If I press on the manual switch with the door open, the light switches on/off. The oven lights are on contunousy when the door is shut or open. The electronic control pad will not let me switch the lights off.

SOURCE: Whilrpool Self Cleaning Range Door won't unlock

try this 1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
display.
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock

SOURCE: GE Spectra XL44 Gas Oven, flashing "Locked Door". Can't use oven or close door

I had the same problem happen tonight. I have an XL44 self-cleaning gas range. We unplugged it for several minutes and pressed 'cancel' a bunch of times--neither worked. We finally lucked out--opened the oven door and pressed a black button on the upper left side of the front of the oven. It turned out the flashing words and unlocked our door. Weird. There was nothing in the manual about this...

SOURCE: Frigidaire Range FEF357BBD error code F9

I had the situation where the oven thinks the door is locked but it was not locked. Setting and holding clear eventually gave a f9 error.
I solved this by turning the circuit breaker off and taping over the oven light switch ( so it thinks it really is locked ) and turning on the breaker. The oven unlocked and appears fine now.

Hi,

Please double check that the oven is not still on cleaning mode. Also, please check the fuse(s) that your oven depends on to make sure that have not turned off or haven't blown unexpectedly.

Thank you.

Lost manual for self cleaninf Maytag oven. It's about 8-10 years old.

My answer is to NOT use that feature, as generally after most people use that :Feature" straight after the oven faults, you see that "Cleaning" mode simply heats the oven up wayyy up to like 900 degrees up, and after this the temperature sensors generally "Go" so my advice is ... use elbow grease and save a lot of possible problems, especially with a 8 - 10 yo unit.

I have a Whirlpool electric build in oven with self-cleaning feature. It is about 8 years old and we just used the self-cleaning feature for the first time last week. The oven was not that dirty, but...

Your thermal fuse or TOD mounted to the back of the oven went out during the self clean,it shuts off the power to the elements.
The oven must be removed from the wall to change this.

Self-cleaning feature

Check your owner's manual, but most self-cleaning ovens should not be cleaned with chemicals. The finish can be permanently damaged. You might try running the oven through the self-cleaning cycle more than once. It will take some time. Make sure the room is ventilated properly since the cleaning cycle produces a lot of heat.

Hotpoint 30" self cleaning gas range with sealed burners - no bake

It may be the ignitor, they can crack and you wouldn't even see. Good news is they are cheap ($5-20) and they are usually easy to replace. But before you replace it...

When set to bake, does the "oven cycle" light come on? If not, that means no power is being sent to the ignitor. Reason? There is a switch in the oven latch, to make sure a) latch must be closed for cleaning cycle and b) latch must be unlocked for baking. On mine, the switch button gets stuck, so even when the latch is unlocked, it thinks it is locked and will not allow the bake cycle to proceed. Cycling the latch a few times may free it, otherwise you'll need to replace the switch (not that hard but a bit of a pain to get to).
