Sampo Hi, I have a Sampo DVE-612. Every once in a while when I put a DVD in it will say "wrong region" and will not play the DVD. My instruction manual is on the other side of the country. Before when I had this problem there were certain instructions to fix it including some kind of code. Please help me!! Emnoodle

When I put a PAL disc in the player the message reads loading disc and while reading the disc it makes a noise and then says wrong region and

stops. I have no problem at all with NTSC dvd's they play fine. I've tried the solution listed here to get back region free but still get the same message wrong region for PAL.

I have the same problem with my Sampo DVE-612.
Today I tried to play my PAL dvd. I put it into the player
and the display said loading disc, but while reading
the disc it made a noise then came the message
wrong region then the player stopped. I tried the
solution suggested here but still get the same
message wrong region.

I tried a dvd that was NTSC and had no problem, it
played perfectly. Does anyone have a suggestion
as to what the problem is or what I might do to correct
it?

Picture plays, but there is no sound.

Hello,

The first and easiest thing I would suggest is to make sure all the audio cables are hooked up correctly and securely.

Let me know if this solves the problem or not. I will try to be of further assistance if needed. Thank you for choosing Fixya.

We live in america and we can not see american dvd's it keep sending a message thar it is the wrong region how can can i change it to region 1 which is the american

You live in America and you cannot watch a American film here is why:

1. You ether put in a NON-AMERICAN FILM many people do this by proxy when they want to see a LATIN AMERICAN FILM FROM MEXICO PERHAPS?

2. Or the DVD laser is not picking up the TOC "table of contents" this means repair is in order.

3. Or some body was playing around with the player with some other types of discs that might not been able to be read in the player.

All after witch this sampo player is past its prime.

let me know if there are any questions

Sampo 612N DVD Player

Sorry for the very late reply because I have left this site for awhile. "X" represents a variable anything from a number 1-6, so instead of an "X" you input a number from 1-6. Got it?
Good luck

Unable to play region 2 DVDs

There are sites with firmware that you burn to a disc to unlock the DVD player. Do a google search to find one.

Hi You haven't included alot of details, but if you are connected through a VCR, then the copy protection on the DVD will cause that effect, or if you have accidentally connected your yellow video cable to one of the component video jacks on the back of the DVD player, or possibly you are trying to play a PAL DVD on an NTSC player. Those are the most common things we see when the average consumer has video problems, but sound is ok. Hope it's one of these, and not truly a video problem. Good Luck!
