Got old toshiba laptop to use as portable graphic runs windows98

Your old Toshiba laptop most likely does not have a firefly port.
The only way to use your firefly device on the Toshibe is to purchase a firefly PCMCIA adapter card and plug it into the Toshiba's PCMCIA slot and install the card driver.
Please click on this link for details and prices for this adapter :-

Download PV-GS39 cam recorder drivers

Hello. I also have the PV-GS39. I had the same problem as you have, here is what I DID to resolve my problem.

1.Go to: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/MiniDV-Camcorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.PV-GS39.D

the above link will take you RIGHT to the web page to download the PV-GS39 Software & Drivers that YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE. But if you have WINDOWS VISTA then you can use the WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER software that is ALREADY PRE-INSTALLED on your PC then you will NOT have to download the software from the above link.

2. You HAVE TO have a: FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD. I got mine at: Best Buy for: $53.86 with taxes. the name of this card is: DYNEX FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD.

3. You ALSO hae to buy the CORD that connects to the PV-GS39 and the DYNEX FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD, the cord costs $36.79 ALSO at Best Buy.

I did ALL 3 of the above and now I'm copying my movies and videos from my tape in my camcorder onto my PC and BURNING the video onto DVD/CD Disks.

If you have any questions, you can email me at: [email protected].

Sincerely,

D770 Mini Plug to IEEE 1394 Interface

Hi Paul, Sorry, but there is no firewire setup on the D770. There is a video output jack on the camera only. You will have to use big ATA or PCMCIA cards and plug them into the PCMCIA card slot. You can also use PCMCIA card adapters for MemoryStick, SmartMedia, and CompactFlash cards(CF). Those are your only options of media for the laptop or PC. The camera comes with a parallel port PCMCIA cardreader. It is reccommended to be used on your PC. Hope this info helps you out.
