The pilot will only turn on for a couple of seconds while the gas comes out to create the flame for the heat to do its job. The pilot is a ceramic fuse that will not stay on at all times. It will click as a sign that is activating (you should see a red glowing light) and ready for the gas/ propane to come out ( the flame will stay on approx. two to five minutes), then it will turn off . Repeating itself many times throughout the cycle. It this is not happening you might need to replace the fuse. Good luck

SOURCE: kenmore gas dryer

That model does not have a pilot light.  It has an electronic ignitor.  If it is not igniting, either the igniter is not getting a signal to ignite, the igniter is burned out, or the gas solenoid is broken.  Probably the igniter is burned out.  It is item number 3018 at RepairClinic.com.

SOURCE: Clothes Not Drying well

HI, Check the following to address this issue further.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat. These thermostats are located in the dryer vent duct and sometimes mounted on the blower assembly as well.

SOURCE: is there a pilot light on amana gas dryer model LG4309W

There is no standing pilot light. The gas is ignited by a hot surface device that is electrically controlled. Trace the exhaust venting to locate the burner area.

I have an estate gas dryer and am unable to light the pilot; please help!

An estate dryer would not normally have a standing pilot. It has an electric glow type of ignition. If you're not getting any heat it is most likely the thermal fuse located in the back of the dryer by the outlet. Hope this helps

sdfs77Hello and sorry to hear about your problem.

It sounds like your dryer glow rod, is defective. This is the electronic pilot lite for the unit.
I suggest you can in a service person. If you live in the Denver Co area, I can help you.

Im trying to lite the pilet

This dryer has no pilot light. When you turn dryer on the igniter turns on and lights gas. If yours is not igniting, you could have a bad igniter or a bad heater cavity switch located behind back panel attached to dryer vent area, has two wires connected to it.

Hooking up my dryer

There is no pilot light on your dryer it sounds like you have a gas leak somewhere. Get a cup put alot of dish soap in it and a little bit of water and apply it to your fittings in the back. If you have a gas leak it will bubble up. If this is a used dryer you may have a damaged gas valve or another internal leak.

Whirlpool gas dryer motor wont turn over

If the drum is not turning, then the belt may have broken and could be (because of the noise I think your describing, partially wrapped around the motor pulley.

Modern gas dryers do not have standing pilot lights. They are electronic ignition.

Chances are, you solve the belt problem, you'll solve the (I guess your having) heat problem.

Please respond with more detail of the problems you are having, and advise if the belt is broken.
