Hi i have a DC210 camcorder with a DVD-RW disk
when i put my disk in
and go to veiw mode then hit the func button then go to initalize it
give me a choice of VR (which it says can be edited on the camera but
only VR compatable DVD players can veiw the disk. or VIDEO (where which
you can not edit the video but most DVD players can veiw it) i have
tryed both settings unfinalized and neither are making it to where i
can veiw anything on my computer.
on video setting i can only view pictures on my dvd player but no video footage i have taken.
if
i finalize the disk will it become viewable to my computer. also does
the battery have to be completely charged in order to finalize the disk
in either setting.
Also if i finalize the disk in either setting
can i use the blacked out unfinalize icon ot undo it if it works or do
i need a new disk
thank you so much for anything you can offer to help
Yes, you must finalize to view the dvd in a stand-alone dvd player.
No, battery doesn't have to be charged but the camera does have to be plugged in to do finalizing.
After, finalizing the disk, and you are in fact using DVD-RW (re-writable) disks, yes you can un-finalize them within the Canon camera to record more video.
I have used the same 3 rewritable disks on my Canon over and over again to record many hours of footage.
