My printer refuses to print. The Red Status light came on so I checked and found there was a paper jam - cleared that. Can get green light to come on if I press the job cancel button but still cannot get...

Perform a Factory Reset

Turn the printer power switch OFF on the right side of the printer. Check that the front cover is closed.

Turn the printer power switch ON while holding down the GO button until the Toner, Drum, and Paper LEDs are lit.

Release the GO button. All LEDs will be off.

Press the GO button 8 times. The Ready LED will flash briefly while the printer is reset. After the printer is reset the Ready LED will be lit.

Print a Test Print Page

Print the Print Settings by pressing the GO button three times.

- If the Print Settings pages do not print, check for alarm lights on the printer. Clear the printer error before trying to print again.

- If the Print Settings pages print, the problem is isolated to printing from your computer. Verify the printer cable connects from the back of the computer directly to the printer. If the cable has become disconnected, loose, or connects through another device, the printer may not be able to print.

Check the Printer Driver Properties

Follow the instructions below based on the operating system installed on your computer.

Windows 7:

Click on the Windows icon => Control Panel => View Devices and Printers.

Right mouse click the Brother printer. Left click See What's Printing. The print queue will open. If print jobs are listed in the printer queue, click Printer (at the top of the window) and click Cancel All Documents to delete the pending print jobs. Click Yes to confirm deleting the print jobs.

Click Printer at the top of the window again. Make sure that Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline are not check marked. If either setting is marked, click on the check mark to remove it.

Click Properties from this Printer menu list.

Click the Ports tab. Verify the correct port is selected (LPT1 is using a parallel cable and USB is using a USB cable). Remember to click Apply if you select another port.

Click the General tab and Print Test Page button. The Windows test page should now print.

- If the Windows test page prints, try printing from a program.
Windows Vista:

Click on the Windows icon => Control Panel => Printers or under Hardware and Sound click Printer.

Right mouse click the Brother printer. Select Run as administrator and left click Open.

If the Windows test page prints, try printing from a program.

Windows XP and 2000:

1. For Windows XP Professional, click on Start => Printers and Faxes.

For Windows XP Home Edition, click on Start => Control Panel =>Printers and other hardware => Printer and Faxes.

For Windows 2000, click Start => Settings => Printers.

3. Click Printer at the top of the window again. Make sure that Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline are not check marked. If either setting is marked, click on the check mark to remove it.

4. Click Properties from this Printer menu list.
