Compressor does not start

Bad compressor starting device (overload and relay) or possibly compressor is bad

no cooling at all on both sides? if thats the case do you have power to the unit ..lights on fans running then your compressor is not working check the starting components and hear if the compressor works also check the controls are they on or off? good luck..

Lack of air flow or a lack of refrigerant are the two primary reasons why coils freeze. Clean the filter and the coil, if frost continues it is likely low on refrigerant.

If you have power to the plug, then it is either the start capacitor, the start relay or the compressor. IIf it is the compressor it is a major expense, so you will decide how much you are willing to invest in an old one, before you buy a new one.

Your compressor may be trying to start and have a bad start capacitor, start relay or overload. If you hear the fans that tells me the thermostat has also told the compressor to start. Unplug and pull away from the wall. remove lower cover over the compressor area and feel the compressor on the top. If too hot to keep you hand there leave the refrigerator unplugged until we locate why the compressor is trying to start but will not. tell me the age of your refrigerator. . Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running.If no check starter/overload relay.

. The most common problem is a bad start relay on the compressor. In rare cases the compressor may be bad. If you are mechanically inclined you can replace the relay yourself for less than 50 dollars. You will need model and serial number off of the unit and order the part by those numbers. if the compressor is bad you will need to hire a good service company
