Sub Zero 642. Getting a fairly loud humming sound above the freezer. Almost sounds like a fan hitting something but had it a part to day and that is not the issue. I know there are compressors above the unit and wonder if this vibration sound is the beginning of the end for one of the compressors.
If it is a compressor issue, is it realistic to fix one of these yourself? Is it just swapping out parts??
Check your evaporator and, condenser fans and, lube them with machine oil one of the back ones is stuck
I would never get rid of my Sub Zero they are the best made and, I service all makes of refrigerators good for you; buying the best!

If the fan is good. then the compressor is going bad. It is not something you can replace yourself, due to freon and also the system needs to be charged properly or it would not be worth the money to repair it. You have to be certified with your EPA lic. to be able to buy a compressor or freon legally anyways. I would recommend calling a tech out and let them talk to you about replacing the compressor
