My start button isn't working....I can press the "popcorn" button and it will automatically turn itself on and cook whatever I have placed in the microwave, but nothing happens when I press the "start" button anymore.

If it will start automatically without using the 'start' button, the 'start' button must be bad. If the door sensing switch was bad, it wouldn't start at all. It needs a new keypad. The most common cause of a keypad failure is from spraying a cleaner on it instead of using a just barely damp cloth to clean it. The liquid can run down the front of the laminated keypad and get into the bottom and seep up into the lamination....

Burns my popcorn constantly. is there a different setting i can put it on?

HELLO.

Solution to your microwave problem is given as below.

* 1 Set your Daewoo microwave on a countertop near an electrical outlet and plug it in. Open the door and place the circular roller guide in the center of the oven cavity, then place the glass cooking tray over it.

* 2 Set your food on a microwave-safe dish and then put the dish on the cooking tray and close the door. Make sure that it latches properly.

* 3 Turn the upper knob to select a power level. Power levels include "Defrost," "Med-High," or "High." If your Daewoo has a touch pad, touch the "Microwave" button once to set the highest power level. Touch it consecutive times to lower the power level.

* 4 Turn the lower knob to set the cooking time. For cooking times less than two minutes, turn the knob up past the two-minute mark, then back to the correct time. For touch pad models, enter in the cooking time with the numerical keys and then press "Start."

* 5 Open the door at any time to stop the cooking and check the temperature of your food. Shut the door to automatically continue cooking, or turn the timer knob to the right to add more time. For touch pads, press the "Stop/Clear" button, then key in a new cooking time and press "Start."

* 6 Open the door when the timer reaches the "Off" position and take out your food.

Thanks.

Popcorn

According to the owner's manual (which you can download free from us here),

1. Place the bag of popcorn over an upside-down 9" glass (or paper) plate.

2. Touch POPCORN pad.

It will cook and stop automatically.

If this does not work, you may have a bad humidity sensor or control board, etc. and parts for this model are generally no longer available.

Oven turns off

Hi,

You are running the risk of damaging the Magnatron by doing this.

Check the packets you are using, you will have to reduce your power output.

This is because microwaves act by being absorbed by water. There is very little in popcorn and in fat. Once this has been evaporated, the microwave energy builds up (as it is still being produced - but not absorbed), and ends up cooking the magnatron itself.

I have seen countless posts on here after cooking popcorn!

More fun on the hob anyway - and cheaper to buy in bulk!

Viking microwave oven

If you mean that the automatic popcorn cooking is not working properly, it's probably a bad humidity sensor.

If it's still under the one year warranty, they'll replace it free. Otherwise, they can steer you to a Viking-authorizes servicer.

You can contact Viking customer service here.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
