My white coffee cups have developed black marks inside. I thought it was the glaze coming off th cups, but have discovered it is a black build up that can be washed off with comet and elbow greese. What is causing the black residue? Otherwise the dishwasher cleans great! Thanks, Pam

I would put a bowl with about a cup of white vinegar in the top rack
along with your dishes ever wash for about a month and then do the same thing about once a month on a regular basis. You will be surprised how nice everything will come out and it will clean your dishwasher at the same time. Of course the bowl that had the vinegar in it will have dirty water in it and need to be rewashed but it will be worth it.

I hope you are pleased with the results

Dennis, Im assuming your model number starts with 665. This model had a service flash on it regarding the upper spray arm. The upper spray arm has been redesigned for better performance. Part number 8269022. This could be covered by Sears if you mention the service flash, 22-714. Other issues that can lead to this problem are; water hardness, if your water is over 7 grains of hardness, this could to this film on the glasses. Try pouring 1/4 cup of Glass Majic into the bottom of the dishwasher. Also run one cup of white vinegar to clean the dishwasher. Make sure the water temp. entering the dishwasher is 120 min. to 150 degrees. Catriver..post back.

the problem is hard water and there is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. it actually filters the water going into your dishwasher and leaves your dishes spot free. after the first load i was amazed that the white film was gone and my dishes were sparkling. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com.

SOURCE: dishwasher dishes not clean

first of all to remove residues from your d/w...what will work to remove the scale and soap residues is called "d/w magic". it comes in a plastic square bottle and you can get it at any grocery store, lowes, or sears.
you just remove the cap, put in the top rack and run a full cycle with the water heat boost option and it will clean out almost any residue from your unit. if it is really bad you may need to repeat this 2 times.

then in the future use dry powder soap, not tablets, fill both cups only about half full, use the normal cycle with the water heat option. also make sure the rinse dispenser is full with jet dry or similar product. then you should not get the residues returning.

after you have tried this then you should brush off any food particles before putting the dishes into the unit. do not assume the d/w will "chop" up any food left on the dishes. they are designed to chop up soft food items, but they also will get plugged at the same time. so its best to just brush the dishes off first.

next is if you still have washing problems, then make sure the unit is filling up with enough water. after you start a cycle, let the unit run for about 2 minutes, open the door and see if the water is just below the level of the heating element. thats how much water they need to circulate properly.

i will reply back if you want to know more.
good luck tom

Brews one or two cups then puts ground in coffee

If you are using the "store bought" Keurig brand K cups for making coffee in the machine, you may just need to clean it by running several "cups" of just water - NO K cup - thru it, into a large white cup. This will NOT hurt the machine, but will clean out most residual grounds in it. The white cup will show you what comes out. Then hold the machine over the sink and using the sink sprayer, open the lid, pop out the K cup holder and spray hot water down thru the opening where the K cup holder sits, then wipe everything you can reach, top and from below, inside and out, with a damp dish towel over one finger. Then clean the K cup holder with hot water and an old toothbrush and reinstall it. EZ.

If this doesn't completely fix the problem, check the soft black rubber (neoprene) seal that fits around the top puncture needle inside and under the lid that comes down over the K cup when you close it to brew. You can't see this part very well, but you can feel it with fingers easily. It is about 3/4" in diameter, maybe 1/4" thick and just slides on over and around the top needle. (there is a bottom needle in the K cup holder, too) If this seal is damaged or missing, that's the problem. It needs to be cleaned every few months anyway, just pop it out, rinse it and replace it. EZPZ.

Now, if you are doing the "load your own coffee" aftermarket plastic cups, the problem may be the refillable cup. But you need to do the cleaning steps outlined above anyway. There are a variety of these, I have them all and use my favorite ones. Some of these plastic cups will deform over time and not seal against the seal described in the paragraph above. If this is the problem, do all the above plus replace the refillable cup. Try a different kind this time.

These machines are very well designed and made. The inside of these coffee machines are CRAMMED FULL of tubes, valves, wires, pumps, a boiler, and electronics. They are NOT designed to be repaired, just replaced. But the above cleaning should be done on every one of them every few months and they will last for years.

My one cup Keurig pot does not release the water

First try using a paper clip or long pin to clean the 2 tiny holes in the upper prong that pokes thro the top of the coffee cartage. I had the same problem and that fixed mine or try running it with 3 cups of white vinegar. this will dissolve all the calcium that builds up inside
make sure you rinse it well with fresh water after.

What do I use to clean the inside of my tank

The white film is just mineral (lime) build up, but indicates the whole machine may also have buildup. You can try brewing some plain water with a cup of vinegar added, or get one of the commercial coffee maker cleaning products sold at supermarkets.

The film at the very top, visible in the grate, isn't likely to be affected by either cleaning method because the water just passes right through it. For that part, try some full strength vinegar on a cleaning cloth.

Why does the water not desperse?

Try digging out the puncturing needle on the top of the cup mechanism with a safety pin. Often, the pin gets build up from sugars & starches from non-coffee cups. If that doesn't work, try running a tank of pure white vinegar through your machine. That will dissolve any build up from hard water or lime scale.

My keurig B40 coffee maker just pure out water hardly any coffee. It makes it taste like a weak coffee even when it's should be strong. It was blocked and we try vinegar but that wasn't the problem. We...

Look at the top needle, there should be a rubber like seal that sits around its base. This seals the needle so all the water with pressure goes the the cup. If the seals not there, it can't build the water pressure necessary to go through the coffee inside the cup, thus coming out around needle and out around cup, making it mostly water in your coffe cup.

I have a two month KEURIG Platinum 10 cup coffee maker. I used filtered water from my frig, soon discovered white flakes swimming in it. Today mysystem said De Scale, will notadmit water from...

Try passing a fine wire back up through the water inlet that punctures the K cups. Drain most of the water from the reservoir and add white vinegar. If necessary, add enough water to clear the low level light on the panel. Hit the start button, and collect a cup of whatever comes out. Either filter the water and re-use or dump out. Continue using the white vinegar, letting it work in the reservoir and internal pot for ~10 minutes between cycles (cups). It will take at least one hour to clean it out and flush it well. Once you are making a cup's worth of water at normal speed and time, dump the reservoir on the side, and refill with clean water. If the reservoir has a bit of a slimy feel inside it, wash it thoroughly before re-installing. (You should wash the reservoir probably weekly, or so, depending on you water).
Flush clean water through the system, dumping each cup produced, until all traces of the vinegar are removed.
Best regards,
