Re: Always shutdown my IBM ThinkPad A21m 2628 PC Notebook
It must be a processor overheating problem, check the vents are not restricted and if the fan is always on or never comes on because of a faulty temp setting then theres a overheating problem and the processor will shut down before any damage.

Let me know fi this will help
Take a can or air and blow a little bit into the drive to make sure dust is not in there. Then use good known floppy disks to see if it reads at that point. If it still doesn't read then the floppy drive is bad and will need to be replaced.
Every laptop is accompanied by a preinstalled vesion of Windows, on the same hard disk in a hidden space. So if you get a prompt to restore your laptop to a previous state at the beginning of system startup, press the relevant key.
If windows xp is your choice. and want to install it you may need follow the installation instruction from your system manufacturer.
When the system starts up some information is displayed on the screen, like this: " Press F1 to enter setup"
If you press the relevant key and enter the BIOS setup you can find the CPU temperature settings, shutdown temperature etc...
This may not be you case. So I suggest you to get support from a qulified technician. Your system hardware should have some problem. (motherboard or hard disk is more prone to error)
you can also try to find information from your system vendor's manuals and support website.
All the best
