How do I get the display to show my drive direction to be straight ahead, not 'NORTH' as being straight ahead?

In the navigation options menu, select Map Options and then Map Mode. Select Head Up, 2D or Head Up, 3D as desired.

I am trying to change my country from 'North America' to 'Australia' Please help. I deselected 'North America' in Tools, Settings, Map Info. Now not sure ?

First do you have a map of Australia on your satnav. If you have it should appear in Tools, Settings, Map, Map Info. Also it should be ticked or selected. If it's there all you have to do is:
  • Press WHERE TO
  • Press ADDRESS
  • At the top of the screen you'll see the last country selected i.e. North America and at the bottom you'll see CHANGE COUNTRY
  • Press CHANGE COUNTRY and select AUSTRALIA
If you don't have a map of Australia installed this won't work of course so you'll need to buy one from www.garmin.com

How do i change to the usa so that i can find an american address

You would need to have the City Navigator North American NT map installed on your gps or SD card....

To check to see if you have that map go to Tools....Settings.....Map.... on bottom of screen press Map Info...

make sure that the map you are looking for City Navigator North American has a check mark

Was going north and the map said i was going south

Are you sure you were heading north at that particular time?
Gps show your direction at that moment and time. Just because your road is going north does not mean that the road is always going north, sometimes they change directions to go around obstacles that were in the way of the road design, IE mountain, town, river.
The sign for the highway may say your are heading north when in actuality you are heading south to go around something.

The gps will not take into consideration the curve of the road, it just tells you the direction you are heading. Hope this helps.

Furuno Radar Model 1833C

You have two things that orient the radar, on is called heading (or bearing) alignment. This is where you aim your radar so that a target comes up at 12 o'clock when dead ahead. Access this mode by pressing and holding menu duing power on, and go in to Installation Mode, radar setup, next page, align heading. I have posted a "tip" on this, search for VX2 radar alignment.
After this is done, North up is accomplished by having a magnetic input (fluxgate compass or autopilot). Calibration of this compass varies, but if it is accurate, then all should line up nicely.

Orientation

It is not likely that there is a software error that could cause that problem so I'm going to cover some basic information first. Forgive me if I'm covering stuff you already know. There are 3 chart orientation modes, North Up, Heads Up, and Course Up. North Up you already know! In Heads Up mode, the chart will only orient heads up when the boat is moving. Unless you have an electronic compass interfaced to your GPS it has no way of knowing which way you are facing. Once you start to move, it compares your new position to the old position to determine which way is heads up. If you are not moving, the map defaults to North Up even if you are in heads up mode. Course Up mode is commonly mistaken for Heads Up. In Course Up mode, the GPS orients the top of the screen toward a waypoint that you have told the GPS to go to. If no waypoint is selected, the GPS will default to North Up orientation. So I guess what I'm saying is, make sure the boat is moving, and make sure you're not in course up mode (unless you want to be).

In the unlikely event that there is a software error causing this problem, it can easily be fixed by getting an update from Standard Horizon. You can either get them to send you an update chip, or download it online and copy it to a blank C Map card. When you turn the GPS there will be a message on the opening screen that identifies you software version. Get that information before you call Standard.
