Hi,

Some models had a service kit for a dispenser heated applied at the water outlet on the door. Before you go hunting for this kit, open the freezer door and knob with your hand (like a door) on the inside door liner. Does it sound hollow or solid? If hollow the heater will work for you, if solid, the heater will not work because the inside of the door is frozen and only fix was to replace the door.

I hope this helps, good luck

SOURCE: Water Dispenser Freezing Up

I would suggest that you turn the fridge temp up so that you are not cooling the fridge too much. However I suspect that you have a problem with your freezer section and the airflow is going in at the bottom of the fridge and not feeding in from the top. If you are competent I would suggest removing the back panel (lower internal) on the freezer section and checking that the evaporator coil (finned aluminium) is clear of ice. If you see an ice formation then you probably have a defrost heater out. If you defrost the unit then it will temporarily sort out the problem but I would suggest getting a fridge guy if your wife is getting mad already.
Hope this is of some if limited help.

SOURCE: Low flow from water dispenser

hi, this can be because of the filter. when the water is flowing threw the filter, it is sent threw many channels inside the filter before it reaches the dispenser. this slows it down a bit. this is quite normal but, if it's slowed down to a dribble, i suspect a water valve malfunction or you may need to change the filter.

If there is a filter on the unit, change it. If not, then sounds like the screen is clogging up. You will need to pull the unit out and remove the water supply line and take off the adaptor to access the filter screen and clean it...

I have a Matag MSD2458GE refrigerator. Water dispenser on the door works but, the ice maker doesn't work at all. Seems no water reaching it. Needs new filter, but no ice before replace filter light.

According to your user's manual, "If water flow to the ice maker or dispenser decidedly decreases or if an objectionable taste or
odor returns, change the filter sooner than
recommended."
"Leave the refrigerator door open while removing and installing filters or plugs; this will prevent water
from flowing through the system and running into

Water dispenser frozen?

You have a resevoir inside the fridge compartment that needs to be defrosted. It is frozen.

It is usually located behind the crisper drawers.

It is a small plastic tank that is white about 6 inches or so in length and bolted on to the wall behind the crispers.

A hair dryer usually does the trick in about 10 mins.

Water line freezing in door of GSL22JFXJLB Side by Side

the problem is the line is freezing up due to obstruction or blockage. which causes the water to back up and freeze, I have used a blow dryer, hot water, and a soft type long tiny tube or cord like material and even a coat hanger but be very careful, to get inside the line and unplug the obstruction or if u can remove the whole line and replace it? but may be very difficult. why was it pluged? some times pc's of plastic bags, old food particles, etc get into the line, doesnt take much

Water dispensor stoppedworking

If the light and ice dispenser on the front panel works and If your fridge is 4 years old or older, the insulation in the freezer door has most likely deteriorated and the water in the tube feeding the water dispenser has probably frozen. Open the freezer door, put a blanket over the food to keep it from defrosting, and use a blow dryer to defrost the door. Blow the hot air on the flat panel inside the door (the backside of the water dispenser). Close the door about every 5 minutes to check to see if the water works. Once the water begins to flow, you have successfully defrosted the ice in the tube. Defrosting the door works for about 12 hours until it freezes again. To solve this problem, I placed a 10" weedeater line up thorugh the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8 of an inch sticking out. When the line freezes again, pull out the weedeater line, dispense water to free the ice, and then reinsert the weadeater line. I keep the line in all the time...it works great! If the light or ice dispenser do not work, the problem may be *********** board.

Does not make ice, does not dispense water. Can

Sounds like the motor that controls the water flow is either broken or defective. Or the water valve is turned off.

GE gss22sgrf sidebyside water dispenser does not work, ice does

these unit have a problem with the water line freezing inside the freezer door. ge makes a tape style heater that goes inside the dispenser area to give just enough heat to keep it from freezing the water line.
you can try to change the freezer settings, warmer, clean the coils at the back of the unit and leave the freezer door open for 20-30 minute to allow the door to warm up and that will be a temporary fix to allow water to flow until you can get the heater kit.

Water dispenser suddenly not dispensing water

Remove the bottom kick plate . Follow the plastic line about 6" and you'll find a connector . Push in on one end of the connector and at the same time , pull the line out . Close the door and press for water . If no water comes out of the disconnented line , the water valve is probably bad . If water does come out , the line inside the freezer door is frozen . If this turns out to be so , you can lower the freezer temp for maybe days , or , put the food on the door, inside the freezer , tape the light switch down ( to keep the lite off and fan running ) and tape plastic over the freezer door opening so the freezer will continue to work . Reinstall the line back into the connector by pushing the hose firmly into place . Leave the freezer door open for maybe 1 or 2 days for thawing out , going by ocassionally and pressing the water dispensor . Important : lower the freezer temperature slightly to keep line from freezing again . ONLY CHANGE THE FILTER WHEN WATER FLOW SLOWS OR ICE CUBES GET SMALL . The change filter lite comes on by the amount of times water dispensor is used and to make money for the vendor .

GE Refrigerator Water Not Dispensing

Had the same problem. No water to the dispenser. After removing the grate at foot of refrigerator was able to get water to bottom of tube. Careful with the funky little coupling, push the white ends inward to disconnect. Turned off refergerator for awhile and used a blow dryer to warm up the dispenser area from the outside. Be careful not to damage plastic by over heating. Also tried to warm the exterior of door but not sure if that helped. Used a hand activated vacuum pump on the water exit spout. Took a long time but evidently the water just prior to the spout had frozen. Had run a small metal wire up the tube from the bottom and it went nearly to the area of the dispenser so I don't think there had been any ice except at the area around the dispenser spout.
Hope this helps.

Water Dispenser freezes

I have a 3 year old GE GSL25 refrigerator with the water/ice dispenser on the freezer door. Even when setting the freezer at 2 and turning the fridge's lower drawer to the warmer "cheese" setting, the water dispenser line would freeze every few weeks. If you have this problem, first verify that the water filter (back of the fridge) is not clogged and that water flows from the water line at the bottom left corner of the freezer door (disconnect and press water delivery dispenser-see owners manual).
I used the hair dryer recommendation to unfreeze the line by heating the flat area of the freezer door directly behind the water dispenser area (~10 min did it). The trick to keep if from freezing up again involved buying a cheap foam sleeping bag mattress (~1/3 inch or 1 cm thick) made of a polyurethane foam (pretty dense). I cut it to match the flat area of the freezer door behind the water dispenser and taped it to the door with packing tape. For the past 3 weeks (even with freezer at #4 setting), my water is flowing freely. Personally, I think this solves a product defect with insufficient insulation in the freezer door near the dispenser water line.
