My printer keeps saying the duplex unit is not attached and i dont know how to fix it. i dont have a duplex unit?

  • jenatccc May 21, 2009

My Minolta Magicolor 2300DL indicates there is an error and keeps saying "duplex unit not attached". The printer will not function until the error is someone addressed. I understand that the duplex unit is an optional feature, but how do you tell the printer that you do not want to use the duplex unit?

The duplex unit is an OPTIONAL component on that printer.

I found that one of the papers i was trying to print was set for double sided printing, well i don't have the duplex part of it. So I kept getting the error. You have to cancel all the print jobs thru the buttons on the printer. Doing it in your computer did not help and turning off the printer did not help me. So after I cancelled all docs from printing and turned off double sided printing it was fixed.

Thank you. It used to work to turn off the printer, then it stopped working and I was stumped. Cancelling the jobs fixed the problem. THANKS!!

Iam getting the duplex paper jam error 371 each time i try to print . how do imake the error go. i dont use the duplex at all.

See page 75 of the attached user manual on how to remove a duplex paper jam. If you can't find a paper jam in the duplexer, simply remove the duplex assembly (power off the printer, then power on) and see if that resolves your issue.

(The printer will operate just fine without the duplex assy. installed)

Samsung SCX6345n duplex doesn't work - paper concertinas

There is a duplex unit guide in one of the maintenance kits that should be replaced periodically. They warp over time. Its the one that "floats" on the side door with the green ground wire attached to it.

I have a Lexmark T634N printer. I have problem with it recognizing the 2nd tray and the Duplexer. I have replace the motherboard, replace the connector on the printer, updated the software on the printer...

Hi

You need to be sure that you have added the duplex unit and tray unit in the windows driver. The "device" tab will allow you to add the duplex and tray to the printer. Also there is a self-docking connector on the bottom of the printer that connects to a similar connector on the duplex unit. Check that these connectors are not damaged by lifting the printer off the duplexer and inspecting visually . You can try removing the duplex unit altogether and just install tray 2 below the printer with no duplex unit at all to see if the printer sees tray 2. If it does see it then the problem is in the duplex unit. If the printer can't see the duplexer it also wont see tray 2 which is below it. Simply re-plugging the units might fix it too so give that a try.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

How do i remove the duplex?

Here's an article on How to Install a Duplex Option on a Lexmark T64x Series Printer. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/94TYQc. This is just to give you an idea on how the duplex option is installed. The duplex unit attaches under the printer, below the standard tray (tray 1) and above any option drawers (trays 2, 3, etc). Removing it is just a matter of lifting up the printer from the duplex option and then lifting up duplex unit removing it from the option drawers, if you have any.

Getting the Duplex Attachment to Work with Vista

what printer do you have?
brand and model?
do you has installed the newest driver and utility for vista operating system?
do you know that Vista and XP are incompatible in terms of drivers?

Vista has many drivers for a lots of printers, but these drivers are "generic driver". The generic driver is a small driver, an incomplete driver, and has a limited functions.

Duplexer

If you really have an HP 4350dtn (d = duplexer), then the duplexer is not connected correctly. Look at the back of the printer for the duplexer. It prtrudes from the back drop down tray and is used to print on both sides. I would pull it out and push it back in to make sure all connections are tight.

Tray number 1 is the manual feed tray in the front of the unit.

Duplex printing

The HP Laserjet 4+ does not have duplex capability built in; you'd need to purchase and attach the duplex unit (HP part number C3157A) to have that option.

Depending on your operating system, your driver may support a "manual duplex" mode in which you print one side, reload the paper, and then print the other side. You can also "fake" this from many applications (such as MS Office / OpenOffice) by telling it to print only even-numbered pages, then printing only odd-numbered pages.
