Turn the setting to M or manual, and push the flash open. You will have to set the camera settings yourself though.

What does the purple button light flashing on 1/2 horsepower craftsman garage door opener

I think the adjustment mode is on.

For example, that's from Craftsman manual:

""
Setting the Force
The force setting button is located on the left panel of the motor unit. The force setting measures the amount of force required to open and close the door.
1. Locate the purple button on the left panel of the motor unit (Figure 1).
2. Push the purple button twice to enter the opener into Force Adjustment Mode (Figure 2). The LED (Indicator Light) will flash quickly.
3. Push the remote control or control console (Figure 3). The door will travel to the DOWN (close) position.

""

Actually, you should just read carefully your garage door opener unit's manual.

We have a Canon rebel XT EOS the flash pops up no matter what the

Frustrating I am sure. I had the same problem on my first XTi. I cannot remember what the settings were, but I think I was set for portrait and had flash set as the white balance default source. Therefore the camera always popped up the flash assuming that I wanted or needed fill flash.

Change you white balance to sun/shade/tungston etc as is appropriate, choose a faster ISO speed in lower light levels and try using the P or Tv mode and use a shutter speed that generates a middle range aperature for your particular lens.

Flash does not work

To correct the flash problem, please do the following:
  • Turn off the camera.
  • Install a set of new or fully charged batteries into the camera.
  • Turn on the camera.
  • Press the Flash Status button to scroll through the flash options until Fill Flash (the lightning bolt icon alone, with no other letter or symbol) is displayed. This forces the camera to use the flash.
  • i problem persist call 18002356325
Hope this will help
Thanks

Flash not popping up

This model does not have a manual flash pop up release, so if the flash is not needed, it won't pop up at all. Use the "flash" button on the back of the camera to set: fill, forced, disable, etc. flash settings.

Nikon D50 : how do I ensure the flash will fire on day shots?

Auto mode only allows for "Auto Flash", "Auto Flash with red eye" or "Forced Flash Off". Forced, flash "ON" does not exist in Auto.

Put it into "P" for programmable mode. Then press the flash button on the left-face. The flash will pop-up. While holding the button, turn the selector dial to select what you want the flash to do - the little flash icons will display on the top panel as you do this.

Cheers.

Not good photos indoors very grainy and bad light looking photos

Auto mode in poor lighting (generally always indoors without flash) sets high ISO, which produces ugly amount of noise (graininess). What you need is to keep the ISO under 200 by either:
Shooting well lit scenes, using flash etc.
or
Uusing one of the manual programs (M, S, A, P) and setting the sensitivity via the F-menu.

Speed of camera always maxes at 250 by default when external flash is put on.

Thanks for offering the help.
I fixed it by just sitting down and going through every setting through trial and error.
A huge pain in the rear end. I got lucky and figured it out.
Thanks,
