Pop up window upon booting computer

When booting up my Compaq computer each morning, I get a pop up message that says: "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert th HP Product Assistant disk and click OK. The I get: Error 1706. No valid source could be found for HP Product assistant. The Windows installer cannot continue. I have evidently commanded the computer to do a command that I am not aware of. After X-ing out of these pop up windows about three times, I finally get it to stop and can continue on with my day. Can you help me turn this feature off? Thanku barbara

    2. Select programs.
    3. Select HP.
    4. Select HP product assistant.
    5. Select preferences.
    6. Uncheck the box next to Enable HP product assistant.
    7. Select never ( under solution update interval).
    8. Uncheck the box next to Enable event logging.
    9. Click on save.

    This will disable the HP Product Assistant notification. If the issue persists, I recommend you to perform the troubleshooting steps in Solution-II.

    Solution II:
    ===========

    If the issue persists, I request you to visit the web-link below and perform the steps in it inorder to resolve the issue.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/gener...

    Note:-Copy the complete URL starting from "http" till "c00857352" and paste it onto the address box of your browser, and then press Enter.

    Rather than send you this document in a text format, we are referring you to the Web, where this information is easier to read with graphics.

    Now check the functionality. If the issue stands unresolved then we have another option for disabling it and I request you to perform the steps in Solution-III.

    Solution III:
    ==========

    To disable the HP Product Asssistant please perform the steps given below.

    Step 1 :

    1. Right-click Start, and then click Open all users.
    2. Double-click the Programs folder.

    4. Click the HP all-in-one entry and hold the mouse button down.
    5. While holding down the mouse button, drag the HP icon out of the Startup folder and onto an open portion of the Windows desktop.
    6. Release the mouse button to "drop" the icon onto the desktop.

    After the All-in-One software is prevented from starting, it must be started manually by double-clicking the HP icon on the Windows desktop.

    5. Uncheck any programs that are related to HP all-in-one or creative projects.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Restart the system.

    Solution for Error 1706:
    ==================

    Uninstall the All-in-One software:
    =========================

    Note: Perform the steps after disconnecting from us and closing all other programs as the uninstallation utility has to fix the registry and clean the files from the computer.

    To completely uninstall the software, run the uninstaller at level three using these steps:

    1. Turn the All-in-One off and disconnect any USB/Ethernet cable from All-in-One to computer.

    2. Insert the all-in-one CD-ROM into the computer. Cancel any installation windows that appear.

    3. Click Start on the taskbar and then click Run.

    4. In the command box type the following command and press Enter key:

    X:\Util\CCC\Uninstall_L3.bat

    (X: is the CD-ROM drive letter of that the all-in-one CD-ROM is in)

    To clear the temp files and folders :
    ===========================

    Click on start click on run and type " %temp% " in the space and click ok that should give you a pop up window labelled temp click on edit button and select an option select all this will show all the files in
    blue and now hit delete button on the keypad this should clear the temp folder

    Download and Install the latest software drivers:
    =====================================

    Here I am providing the web link from which, you can download and install the full feature All-in-One software:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...

    NOTE:- Copy the complete URL starting from "http" till "2093&lang=en" and paste it onto the address box of your browser, and then press Enter

I have a gateway nv79u and it wont stay on for more than 30 mins. It keeps shutting off with error code 41 kernal-power.

Hi Michael,

Kernel Power - Error Code 41 often times caused by conflicting drivers. If you are trying to play a game or watching videos then the computer suddenly turns off, you must first check the following:

1. Open Device Manager (click Start > type Device Manager) and go to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and see you have two audio drivers installed and disable one at a time and see if it fixes the issue.

2. Boot into Safe mode (press F8 continuously upon boot up) and see if the computer still shuts down there. (If it doesn't try disabling start-up items using this guide

3. If you're pop-up error messages like "System services cannot be started" upon boot-up, you're operating system is corrupted and must be restored to default settings. (you need to press F11 upon boot up - remember to backup your important files)

3. If Step 2 above is true, check if the computer is overheating. If it does, the computer needs to be serviced. Contact gateway support at 1-800-846-2000.

Cheers.

Getrid of popus and fake security warnings

When you are browsing the internet and suddenly a window pop up with different messages for example" free update for your computer ","scan your computer with free anti-virus". May be some pop-ups messages helpful for you but you should read first in detail before clicking it. Pop-ups basically an advertiser message or unwanted program and website that might be disturb your computer performance.
If you are working with Internet Explorer and want to block the pop-ups windows and unwanted messages. Open the Internet Explorer and click on Tools menu and go to Pop-up Blocker option, here you can Turn Off Pop-up Blocker to block pop-up from all websites. But you have option to allow some websites for pop-up. For this purpose open the Pop-up Blocker Setting. Here you can add some specific websites name to allow for pop-up and click Add. If you feel any problem to block any pop-up message due to some problem, simply click on the X at the right top of the pop-up windows.

Everything has been working okay on this compaq until this morning. Upon powering up a Red and White HP screen pops up that turns into a black screen which reads quite simply: "Disk Boot...

The computer could not read your copy of Windows from your disk-drive.

Either:
* there is no electrical power getting to the disk-drive (check the power cable)
* the "data" cable between the motherboard and the disk-drive is faulty or not-connected (check it)
* the power-supply in your computer is not supplying power to the disk-drive (try different power-supply)
* the disk-drive itself has "failed" (maybe, the motor that spins the disk-drive has failed)

Take your computer to a professional technician for trouble-shooting.

Fixed Disk Parameter Table or BIOS Error Okay, so I was browsing around the web the other day. My notebook completely locked up, and I had to hold in the power button for 10 seconds to do a hard shut down....

Remove the hard drive and see if you get the same symptom. It should boot, then go into the BIOS and see if it recognizes the RAMs. Re-seat the RAMs if it doesn't boot - if you have two circuit boards - try one at a time. The motherboard can also be your problem.
