LG DVD player Disc Error message even when playing lens cleaners!

try running a dvd lens cleaner through it if that doesn't work then the dvd portion is not working but you can always use a regular dvd player plugged into one of the inputs.

You can purchase a DVD lens cleaner for under $10 just about anywhere DVD's are sold

Your DVD /VCR says unknown disc because the
dvd which you have inserted is not of the supported format by player.

If you insert unsupported formats only it will say as unknown disc.This is not related with disc cleaners.

Please insert the supported formats and it will play the disc.

Try a good wet type cd dvd lens cleaner and you may need to upgrade the firmware check the LG website.

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load DVD's. The weak lens is also what's making it say disc error.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all DVD's with no problem at all.

If you get Disk Error only on few CDs, then it can be the media (CD scratched, defective or dirty).

If you get the error on all or almost all CDs, then it is usually because of a lens problem.

You will need to clean the lens.

Sounds like either a dirty or weak laser/lens. Pls try cleaning with a CD disc cleaner or manually using cotton buds (if the eye is accessible).

I have the same problem. I opened the DVD player up and "blew out" dust. Still does not recognize that I have a disc in. HELP
