HI, My playstation 2 does not work. It is the new slimline model (black). I've had it for about 2 years now, and occasionally its froze. But now, it will not show anything or even produce sound. The disc is spinning, and i'm sure the laser works, but i may be wrong. If you leave a game in there, the analog light on the controllers won't turn on their own. So i'm not sure if the games are even loading. In addition, the screen just flickers when i turn it on and off.

The cable isprobably faulty or damaged. Try replacing it with another one. The socket on the back marked network is a ethernet port which allows players to connect to the PSN or Playstation Network allowing you to game other people around the world with supported games
it appears that your GPU ( Graphics chip ) Has burnt out.
Comon problem with PS2s. especially if they,re about 2 years plus old. it,s not worth a repair. this will cost you about £120+ better to get either a new motherboard or even purchase a new console. if it,s been played for a couple of years or more, then you,ve had the moneys worth out of it.
If it,s out of warranty, and you decide to strip it down for investigation. look at the graphics chip, it,ll have a burn mark on 1 corner.
sure they do but not fuses as you,d recognise them.
these are usually small rectangular blocks on the motherboard, usually white or black.
this is a job for a competant electronics or PCB repairer.
Look at spending £50-£100 on a repair.
