Hello.

Reset your Kindle.

There's a little hole inside the battery cover area. Put in a pin or paperclip end and press. The Kindle should unlock.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: UNABLE TO CONNECT MY KINDLE

Four reasons come to mind that may prevent you from connecting:

  1. Wi-Fi Passwords are case sensitive. Please check again if you entered the password with proper casing and you did not put any extra white space in front or behind. I know, this sounds annoying, but it is really the most common cause for connection problems.
  2. Give your network a unique SSID. This is the network name that shows up in the list of detected networks. Default names like NETGEAR can be troublesome if a neighbor one block down the street happens to have a router from the same company.
  3. Some routers have a MAC address filter as a security measure, limiting service to devices specifically whitelisted. If your router is set up for this, add your Kindle's MAC address to the list of permitted devices. You can check the MAC of your Kindle from its settings page (press HOME, MENU, select SETTINGS, see paragraph headlined "Device Info".
  4. There are twelve different standards for Wi-Fi transmission collected under the hood IEEE 802.11. The four most dominant transmission modes are called a, b, g and n. They differ in radio frequency, modulation method and data rate. Kindle supports the two standards IEEE 802.11 b and g only, which is not really a problem because all wireless routers I ever encountered support one or both of these, too. However, the WPN824v3 belongs to the "RangeMax" series of NetGear routers. In combination with certain Netgear wireless network adapters, it can be set up to use a proprietary modification of 802.11g exclusively (108Mb/sec, doubling the 54Mb/sec for 802.11g), not allowing for standard b or g connections. Make sure it allows standard b+g connections, too.
Please add a comment to this solution if one of these items resolved your problem. If you suffered from a different issue I did not think of, it would be nice to drop me a line, too. Other people will benefit from any experience you made.

SOURCE: I have the kindle 3.0.2,

First of all there are two types of kindle, the kindle 3g + WIFI and the Kindle WIFI. If you bought the kindle WIFI you will be unable to connect to a 3g network. If you bought a 3g model you can access 3g internet by pressing the 'menu' button and then using the 5-way to navigate to 'turn on wireless'. Once wireless is on you can access your browser by clicking menu, scrolling to experimental and then selecting Web Browser

SOURCE: My Amazon Kindle Wifi 3G

Amazon might help you with this because it is so new. However if you dropped it (etc.) and if HTC doesn't replace it for you, You can get the part at Kindle 3 Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at Kindle Repair Guide.

SOURCE: Brightness on my Kindle Touch 3G

The Kindle 3G using E-Ink does not have a backlight therefore there are no brightness controls provided which in turn helps to increase the battery life.

If you need to have a reading light when using the Kindle then you will need to purchase one of the many clip-on LED reading lights that are available on the Amazon and other web sites.

How do i change my passcode on a kindle e book reader

Did you forget the password used to unlock your Kindle? If so, you'll need to reset the device to gain access. By resetting, your Kindle will be restored to factory defaults, which means your registration information and content will be removed, and all settings will return to the defaults.

To reset a Kindle Fire 1st Generation:
1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left
2. Use the keypad to enter characters into the password/PIN field four times
3. You'll be prompted to reset your Kindle Fire. Tap "Ok reset"

To reset all other Kindle Fire models:
1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left
2. Use the keypad to enter characters into the password/PIN field five times.
3. When prompted to reset your Kindle Fire, tap "Reset"

To reset a Kindle 2nd Generation, Kindle Keyboard, or Kindle DX:
1. Slide and release the power switch to turn on the device or exit sleep mode
2. Enter "resetmykindle" in the password field and press the enter key on the key pad
3. Wait several minutes while your Kindle restarts

To reset a Kindle (5-way controller):
1. Press and release the power button to turn on the device or exit sleep mode
2. Select the keyboard key once on the password screen and enter "resetmykindle" in the password field, then select "Enter"

To reset a Kindle Touch or Kindle Paperwhite:
1. Press and release the power button to turn on the device or exit sleep mode
2. Tap the password field to bring up the onscreen keyboard
3. Enter "111222777" and select "OK"

If you don't remember your Parental Controls password, you can deregister your device instead of resetting, as long as you're connected to a wireless network. You'll need to redownload your content, but items that were transferred via USB will be kept. Here's what to do:

1. Visit the Manage Your Content and Devices (www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle) page on your computer
2. Select the "Manage Your Devices" link
3. Select "Deregister" to deregister your device from your account
Sync your Kindle, then register again.

If you need help with your Wi-Fi password, please contact your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer.

Kindle fire will not connect to wi-fi which it has before and other products connect with no problem.

1 Reset your wifi Router;
2 FORGET your router details on your Fire and then rescan to find it again, reconnect.

It's possible that a neighbour has a new router, tv, telephone, bluetooth device and it's causing interfearance on your wifi settings. If the above simple fix does not sort things out you may want to go into the router and change you channel to a fixed service on channel 3-9 rather tahn AUTO.

Good luck

Downloading books

If you have the 3G model of Kindle then you can download books using 3G which is like you would use with a mobile phone.

If you don't have 3G then you will need to connect to a WiFi network in order to download books directly to the Kindle. See the Connecting With WiFi Guide for details of how to do so.

You can also transfer books directly from your PC to your Kindle using a USB lead - see the video guide on how to do this.
