Call 18004myhome and get to parts. Give your complete model # and they should be able to help. There may be a # on the label in the microwave you can call.

Model:JVM1631WJ03 Serial: RH900768U How complicated to replace inside bulb. I am a female senior and greatly miss having that light. Also where to purchase that bulb?

It's pretty simple.

It's covered on page 33 of the service manual found online here.

You can pre-order bulbs by entering your full model number (JVM1631WJ03) here.

1 To replace the oven light,
first disconnect the power
at the main fuse or circuit
breaker panel or pull
the plug.

2 Remove the top grille by
taking out the 2 screws
that hold it in place.
See video here.

3 Remove the charcoal
filter (if present) to
access the light cover
(see Remove Charcoal
Filter section).

4 Remove the light cover
located near the center
of the oven that holds
the bulb. Remove the
bulb by gently turning.
Replace with the same
size and type bulb.

5 Replace the light cover
and charcoal filter
(if present).

6 Replace the grille and
screws. Connect electrical
power to the oven.

Where is the fuse located?

If the model number is correct, there is a small input line filter board with a 125V, 20 AMP line fuse inside the microwave. Its usually mounted on a small input line filter board at the point where the power cord enters the back of the unit. You will need to UNPLUG the microwave oven and remove the exterior case to access. The case comes off in various ways depending on manufacture and model. I found this illustration at pcappliancerepair.com based on the model number you listed this question under:

http://pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php

The line filter is listed as item 1420. The fuse will be mounted to this board.

You can purchase replacement fuses at any hardware store. You can usually purchase a box of fuses at a hardware store for just a little more than what the manufacturer charges for a single fuse. 125V, 20AMP Slow Blow fuses are recommended.

If you have any questions, or need assistance troubleshooting, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: Make sure you take any resistance readings with the microwave UNPLUGGED and the component under test isolated (removed) from the circuit.

Determine venting requirements

When you initially unpackage the microwave oven it is already set up for RECIRCULATION mode (which is VENTLESS). However, since the unit recirculates air rather than exhausting it out through the wall or roof, it usually uses a couple of small charcoal filters behind the upper grille and mesh filters on the underside that have to be changed or cleaned periodically. These filters will accumulate grease and dirt over time and should be periodically checked in order to maintain proper ventilation and air flow. Information pertaining to the location and care of the filters is explained on Page 4 of your Owner's Manual.

NOTE: If you wish to convert to a VENTED system, the instructions are listed on Page 4 of the Installation Guide.

If you do not have either manual you can obtain copies at managemylife.com. Just type in your model number as "GMH3174XVB" and you will find the manuals listed in a .pdf (Adobe) format that can be printed or downloaded for FREE.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

The unit is not functioning although power supply is fine; I suspect a blown fuse but cannot locate my original parts list (model #721.62622) to identify which fuse to replace. Are fuses available from any...

20A ceramic fuses (the most common) can be had locally in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

It may be the fuse, which is usually located behind the grille, on the floor of the oven behind the control panel, between the door switches, or on the filter board near where the cord comes into the unit.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat / thermal cutout (TCO) / thermal fuse on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

Accessing some components (especially the oven cavity thermostat) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

To find helpful exploded view diagrams and get part numbers, you can just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as 721.62622200. Check the tag on your unit.

But Sears parts can usually be obtained for far less here by entering either the part number.

When you enter your model number here, on the resulting page look to the right for the blue "View manuals" button. Click there.

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they list there are all free, they will ask you to register.

Many times, the owner's manual will also have the installation instructions inside, too.

If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it through the
Sears parts site.

We have the overall schematic diagram for model 721.62622200 here and here. It may be close enough to yours to help.

I need a charcoal filter

The GE spec sheets for what is the right charcoal filter are incorrect. You will never find the right one. I have this same microwave and had same problem. I called a local appliance company and they gave me Part No. WB06X10359 and when I googled this part it was not the right dimensions. I finally found the perfect solution. Go to www.rangehoodsfilter.com (Filter Factory-TTN Inc.) and they are customing making the filter for me. I spoke to Dave this morning from Filter Facotry and he's making me one with the following dimensions - 5 7/8" x 13 1/4" x 1/4". The cost is $16.95. If this fits I will order more. The more you order, the cost per unit goes down.

Spacemaker XL1400

I found a solution for my microwave. Went to Ace and picked up some lag bolts, yellow in color (believe they said it was yellow zinc). Most common seems to be 1/4"-20, but these lag bolts had the smaller thread of 1/4"-28.

I had to go a little shorter in length because the threads don't run the entire length of the bolt. The only downside is that the top of the bolt sticks out inside the cabinet (but only about 3/16"). Well worth it so I didn't have to buy an installation kit that was in the $40-$50 range.

I have a gold star above range microwave, mvh1615ww, man. in Sept. 2006, the turntable is not turning, any quick fixes?

Try the TURNTABLE ON/OFF pad. Touch this pad to turn off the turntable or turn it back on. “OFF” will appear in the display when the turntable is turned off.

Do you mean MV1615?

If so, we have the service manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you. You will need the free Adobe Reader to view or print it.

You may need a new turntable motor or coupler.
