Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

1 Answer

Playstation 2 console

My playstation is about 3 years old, and I haven't had any problems with it. It is a thin ps2 w/ a SCPH-75001 power supply. I was playing a baseball game one time, and it just shut down on me, and when I went to turn it back on, the green light would come on for a second then turn to red again. I don't know if I need to get a new power supply or what it could be. If you could email me and let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time. Ron S.

Hi Ron, To the best of my Troubleshooting knowledge on the Slim, this sounds like a Temperature problem. Do not lay the Slim on the carpet when playing and try not to keep it in sunlight. It will last you much longer to shut it off when not using it. Let it cool off and try it again. If dust is the culprit, you will need to disassemble the Slim and clean it out, mainly the fan. The Slims fan is very succeptable to dust accumulation. www.playstationclinic.com

I have a scph-75001 model ps2 and i need a power supply the back of the ps2 says d/c 8.5v but all 8.5v suppys seem to be a/c 8.5v what to do? will the a/c supply work even tho it says d/c?

Picking a replacement power supply is tricky if you don't know the process, and the exact specs of the supply you are trying to replace. You would be much better off just buying one listed for your model PS2, like this one:

Brand new power supply for $16.95 and usually ships the next day. Something like this you would have no chance of damaging your unit.

SCPH-75001 model PS2, What Rock Band or Guitar Hero will work?

make shaw its not a ps3 game, not trying to be patronizing but ive had 3 people do that brought ps3 games and try to put them in ps2, its true sony are rip off merchants, my advise is not to get a wii ether go for a xbox 360, he will love you for ever. the download content alone you can get for rock band1/2 and guitar hero world tour is worth it

Ps2 slim scph-75001 starts to read the games but then stops!

your lense is more than likely defragmented jacob and you should never take any system apart okay so what you wanna do is if your warrenty is still in effect dont tell sony you took it apart just send it in for a refurbisment if it isnt you need to look around online for a ps2 slim lense okay

Which multitap do I buy?

There were two versions of the multi-tap made; one for the original fat PS2 and a smaller version made for the slim. The two versions are incompatible with the other PS2. If you have the original multi-tap connected to the slim, it should throw out the 'controller disconnected' message when you boot up. The slim version of the multi-tap should have a sticker on the bottom saying 'only works with models SCPH-70000, SCPH-75001, SCPH-75002'.

Other than the sports games, I don't recall any titles that allow more than two players anyway.
