Connecting to Aol - wireless internet

Hi I've been using my Packard Bell Notepad for about 2 years & i've been using wireless for 2 years. Recently my speedtouch router stopped working so i manually reset it. Surprise surprise it still didnt work so i cantacted aol they managed to get the router back on but tell me that my ip address isn't combatable anymore. I take the same computer to my girlfriends house ( Who has aol ) And the wireless works fine !!! Aol talked on the phone fofr 2 hours telling me they could fix it. The crunch came when they asked me to run a search for CMG , then asked me to type in ipconfig once i did this and read out what it said they said it was wrong and i needed to contact the manufacturer!! My Packard Bell Dot SE Netbook battery does not charge, charging light is on icon states connected and charging. It has not been used for around 4-5 years.

The short answer is that the battery is bad. Replace it. Lion batteries cannot sit for more than 2 years without a "refresher" charge.

Cannot switch on wireless connection Packard bell laptop does not have switch

Wireless problems with a Packard Bell PC or laptop can be caused by a variety of issues.

The best troubleshooting resources are the documentation that came supplied with the computer, and the Support section of the Packard Bell website.

Unable To Detect Wireless Network

If the Packard Bell machine is unable to detect a wireless network, the computer itself or the network could be at fault.

Check that a wireless signal is being broadcast via another PC or device, and check that are wireless adapter is installed, complete with the latest drivers, which are available at the Packard Bell website.

Unreliable Wireless Network

If the wireless connection is unreliable, intermittent or very slow, it suggests a problem with the Wi-Fi broadcast.

Try positioning the computer closer to the router broadcasting the wireless signal, or use a signal booster to improve the range.

Download and install the latest driver updates from the Packard Bell website and through the Windows Update tool.

Unable To Connect To Wireless Network

If the computer can detect the network but is unable to connect to it, a network security key may be required. This should have been configured by the person who set up the network. Consult the documentation that came with your router for details of how to change it or generate a new key.

Hope this helps
