I have a problem with a Drive Mini Phantom scooter. If you picture the speed control dial as a clock with the slow (turtle) position at 7:00 and the fast (rabbit) position at 5:00, the scooter does not move from 7:00 to the 1:00 position. From 1:00 to the max position, it moves only slowly. I replaced the speed pot and dial assembly, but still have the same problem. Any suggestions?

It could be battery problems or ECU problems i dont feel the problem stems from the dial or variable switch. if possible try and get a current tester and test how much power the battery's are actually producing. other than those suggestions i dont have any other fixes at present, keep me posted, best regards

SOURCE: Where can I order parts for the drive medical

Hi is the on /off switch a proper key lock, or a round plug. If it is a round plug then the switch is probably a mono plug available from any radio repair shop. I have changed a few of these.
Is the name phantom a proper brand name, or just a name the importer put on it. Have a llok inside the covers and see if you can find another name, or a serial number sticker.
Good luck. Neil.

SOURCE: In Drive position the wheels

I would suspect that the brake is not releasing causing your problem. When you place the handle in freewheel and you can't push the scooter easily then the brake pad is stuck on the motor housing. If you are able remove the seat and back cover remove the drive wheel on the side of the scooter nearest the freewheel lever usually the right side. you should be able to see the brake attached to the end of the motor with 3 or 4 hex head screws. take the brake off the end of the motor and carefully leave the wiring attached ( don't break or remove the wires going to the brake or the scooter will not run at all) remove the brake and place or tie it up where it won't fall or drag. Put the drive wheel back on and turn the scooter on and see if it will now move. If it moves like it should you will have to replace the brake. You can drive the scooter like this but remember you do not have brakes so the scooter can roll backwards or forward when not on and especially on ramps Hope this helps

SOURCE: Disable back-up warning on Drive Phantom Scooter

Most of these units have the back up buzzer shrink-wrapped together in the wiring harness under the rear shroud. aka motor cover. The buzzer is typically between the size of a 25 and 50 cent piece, is black and has two very small wires coming out of it - one red and one black. You can cut one wire where you can reconnect it later - just in case you cut the wrong wire!

This model Drive Phoenix 3 wheel is found for sale at pharmacies and is subject to floor model abuse.

Most common abuse is not recharging batterys and letting them sulfate thus
reducing life of of charge.

I have found that the foward and back-up levers have been bent
by people sitting and squeezing both levers at the same time. the resulting misshaping of the levers results in a very slow speed comand to the controller because of limitted movment of speed control. The result is that main control (turtle/hare) must be advanced to fast (hare) position to get scooter to move.

I have had success straightening levers by carefully bending them in opposite direction on my Phoenix 3W ( which was a clearence item with no warranty.)

The real (legal)solution is ordering a new lever having a technician
replace it so as not to void warranty.

Hope this helps....jth1939

Hi. Sounds like you have accidently moved the high/low switch. Sometimes called the indoor/outdoor switch. Some switchs are marked with a turtle and a hare.
Check your manual for the position of the switch.
Good luck. Neil.

Stuck in slow (turle) setting.

Hi. This fault could have a few different causes.
Does your hand control have a dial for the turtle to rabbit speed control, or does it have an up button and a down button?. I have had a few dial ( potentiometer ) pots play up, and cause similar problems.
The fault could also be faulty Battery or Motor connector. These terminals develope a bad connection and can get that bad that the plastic housing starts to melt with heat. Also check battery terminals are tight.
Do the batteries last? I have had a few machines with a burnt out motor. These often still drive but only slowly, and the batteries fade quickly.
Good luck. Neil.

I have a pride legond and its painfully slow. i have lppked for the pots but so far no luck. would help if i knew where too look. thanks jtff

http://www.pridemobility.com/contact.asp Here's the contact link for Pride Mobility. If you bought the scooter used, it may have been reprogrammed by a dealer for a slow maximum speed and not the pot at all. You need a programmer to access the controller and reset the max speed setting to 100% and clear any user profiles from the former owner. Usually when the pot goes out, it is completely dead, or will only operate at one speed, or will operate off and on.

Pride Legend surges at any speed & makes a clicking noise

This sounds like a bad throttle pot. You need to have it replaced.
