I have 2 problems with my lg hb 966trw: a) cinavia.. it is active and sound goes off in almost all dvd/blu ray after 20 minutes. a) region code. Initially I could not play any DVD/blu ray. then following some recommendations in forums I changed area to GB and managed to watch.. but then again together with the cinavia problem I cannot open almost any DVD/bluray so it seems my problem is a combination of area code and cinavia.
For the issues of region code and Cinavia audio mute which is Cinavia code 3 issue, you can check these 2 tutorials:

switching regions:
Turn
on your DVD player.
Open
the DVD player's main drive, also commonly called the DVD "tray." The
region cannot be changed while a DVD is in the machine, so many DVD players
require the tray to be open as an extra precaution.
Push
"Info" or "Setup" on your remote.
Use
the remote to select the "Region" option as indicated on your TV
screen.
Select "Region 9" to change the system to
multiregion formatting. Regions 1 through 8 represent specific geographic
locations and will not allow multiregion playback.

Ir will not work for Bluray disc, only for DVD's. Blu Ray region unlocking would require hard ware modification.
The time has come to consider a new player, the repairs will exceed the value of a new one.
