Air in filter on hayward above ground pool.

I have a hayward element type above ground pool filter. Everything seems to be working, however I have air in the element tank. I used to turn the bleed valve and get water, Now I get air for about 8 seconds when the filter fills with water the water will start coming out. I close the valve and after about 15 min. the air has returned. I replaced all hoses and valve to and from the pump / filter. There are small bubbles in the pump strander basket. The skimmer seems to be giving the pump all water and the pool is at the correct depth.

    I also have air in the pump, but mine is from an underground suction line leak. I intend to replace the PVC pool skimmer while gaining access to the suction line. How big a hole do I need to cut in the concrete deck to replace skimmer? Thanks for any help!!!

This is common the first 30-60 seconds after turning the filter on. The filter is purging its self of the air, sometimes algae or small debris will shoot back into the pool as well.

If it is constantly getting air then replace your o-ring on the that clear cover (Strainer Cover) make sure you use a lubricant, and like djtc66 said re-wrap all threaded areas with teflon tape.

Green pool- After shoching and vac. pool the backwash is clear. next day pool is green again! Whats wrong with the system?

I had similar situation.try removing winterizing plug,wrap with teflon tape, make sure no debris on threads. This worked for me. Tony

Yes as long as you are sure to match the flow rate of the pump to the filter. The biggest limit will be the low maximum flow rate the EC40 has. It will clog up to fast if installed on a larger pool...inground pools are generally larger (more gallons of water) than above ground. The pumps are more important to match as far as using inground rated units for inground pools and above ground for inground. Filters only care about flow rate and overall volume of water to keep clean.

Does any one make a vacuum for these types of pools that works through the filter like an inground pool. I have only seen a system that you attach your garden hose to which creates a suction into a catch...
Hayward makes the "Ladybug" pool vacuum that attaches to a standard pool filter inlet fitting. I have one for my 24' above ground pool.

We have a hayward xstream pool pump for our 18' above ground pool that my daughter got through make a wish last august. we cleaned the cartridge yesterday and when we replaced the cartridge it started...
Try taking the pool filters cartridge out and following these steps to make sure that it is installed properly.
1. Clean debris from bottom of filter tank.
2. Replace element evenly on the collector hub in bottom of the filter body.
3. Place lid evenly on filter body and turn Easy-Lok™ ring clockwise until the safety latches engage securely.
4. Close and secure drain plug (located at the base of filter body).
5. Open air relief valve (Turn lever to left).
6. Open valves (Optional suction & return valves).
7. Prime and start the pump.
8. Once air has escaped the filter and a steady stream of water is flowing from the air relief valve, close the air relief valve and note the pressure gauge reading.

Can u hookup hayward Aquabug to intex above ground pool without disconnecting existing filter? Will both filters work at the same time? I would like to clean the top of the pool at the same time I clean...
You Aquabug pool cleaner works WITH your pools filter. You much connect the cleaner to your filter system and the filters suction is what powers the cleaner. Since they operate together, you should always run your filter while you are cleaning, but it will never operate in its normal capacity since you are using it for a different purpose. Here is a copy of the users manual if you have any questions about how the cleaner works.

Brought a used hayward pool. no instructions on how to set up the pool. help

After replacing gasket on filter vacumed pool
I would suspect that there is a fault in the filter, a bnreak in the filter elements, a bad alignment, a colapsed support. something that is letting the dirt get back in to the pool

Replaced sand now filter isnt working
if u used play sand, or any other type of sand thats NOT pool filter sand, that could be the problem. also if there is too much sand or too little sand that could also cause this.
