Emerson EWF2004 20" TV Logo
William Risner Posted on Oct 29, 2013

I noticed that while I am playing games on the tv some of the picture around the edges of the screen is missing, like the tv is zoomed in slightly. I don't have the remote that came with the tv and my universal doesn't have a button to zoom out. How can I change the resolution of the picture to show the full game picture?

I would probably use the remote to get into the TV menu. Somethimes it will have zoom features in there as well as the aspect ratio.

Do a google search for "emerson remotes" (in quotes) and take your pick. I have ordered them by model number from Fox International at 800-321-6993.

SOURCE: Picture is Tilted

The quickest correct fix for this problem is to open the TV, turn it on and display something on it. Then, on the the neck of the tube (where the screen just thins out) you'll see a an assembly of coils and odd disk-shaped objects. These are really magnets - the coil being the scanning or deflection electro-magnets and the disks being low-strength magnets. It is likely that with age the positioning (called alignment) of these have changed slightly to giving rise to the symptons you describe. Taking care for shock (keep your left hand in your back trouser pocket) try rotating this coil array while observing the picture, which should rotate accordingly (keeping a large mirror in front of the TV would help much). Once you are satisfied with the picture, you can use a glue-gun or even sellotape to secure the assembly from drifting again. Then switch off your TV, put the cover back and ENJOY your handiwork!

Then the only way to reach your tv is through coaxial antenna port. So you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your red yellow and white cables (rca cables from a dvd, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me.

My toshiba 40e210u lcd tv won't show full image on screen

The Aspect ratio of the TV could be on the wrong setting for the image you are trying to view. Widescreen's standard ratio is 16:9 ensure the TV is not set to zoom, 4:3, or pan & scan in the picture menu of your TV.

If the picture looks normal except it's just missing the edges or looks squashed or looks like it is zoomed in from the normal image then aspect ratio is probably the cause.

My Trinitron's mostly fine, though it's a few years old, but it has a strange display issue. It's almost as though the picture is "zoomed in" about 8%, cutting off about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of...

This problems u are having it is not the causes by the tv,because ur tv it is a analoge CRT tv,don't have this functions zooming in or out or the problems just causes only 8% cutting off edges of the tv pictures only.If the problem it is happening to ur analoge tv it will have no vertical hold at all.The devices u are connected to the tv and using have zoomming in or out buttons or ajustment buttons of the sizes of the picture on the screen.Used the devices remotes controls to readjust ur zooming or pictures sizes adjutment.

My Vizio LCD HDTV 32in. doesn't seem to "center" the picture on sports programs so when they have a score box in the upper left corner most of it is cut off and can't be seen. Doesn't matter how I adjust...

This is a common complaint. To be frank I don't have the exact term for your Vizio, but most recent LCD and plasma TVs have the ability to "zoom" or adjust "picture format" (those are two commonly used terms) depending on the signal source and format.

it has to do with the fact that currently there are both classic style format 4:3 signal sources as well as new HD 16:9 signal sources and on top of that it may happen that a 4:3 signal source is distributing adjusted image from a 16:9 or other signal source. Think cinema adjusted to run on classic TV - remember the vertical strip of image with two huge black areas below and above it?

Well the ZOOM or PICTURE FORMAT allows to adjust such an image so that you cut the "void" are by scalling (enlarging) the visible area to fit the whole screen.

A problem then appears when the signal source is normal and showing full screen. Then, because of the enlargement, you start missing some of the picture. Before there was nothing there because it was showing adjusted wide (cinema) format to the TV box format, but when the new TV box format gets enlarged it sure starts missing around the edges.

That's what you're seeing.

More and more TVs do not have the ability to adjust that through the TV itself. Don't ask me why, but they can only do it through the remote.

So if you have an original remote there MUST be a button there that's called ZOOM or FORMAT.

It does the trick.

Hope this helps. If it does do not forget to rate it.

Cheers,

Picture zoomed in and now not all picture is showing

Did you try to zoom out?

When you zoom in, your TV removes some portion from the edges of the picture and shows the rest full-screen.

If you want zooming out instructions, please provide information about your TV's make and model.

Thank you.

Dark black spots around the edges of LCD TV

this issue is tape from the edge of the panel falling onto the screen. You will have to remove the cabinet and the panel from the bezel(front cabinet).remove the screws from the lcd outer edge. Take of the tape.Be very carfull of the ribbon cable that goes to the lcd controller and to the lcd screen itself. They break easy. If you do , its over. you will need a new panel. to much money and work. best to leave it alone.I have fixed it several times for people with warrentys. It is just anoying but will not hurt your tv.

Xbox picture gets cut off on the sides

try fiddling with the tv menu. most tvs have the zoom function now and also the ratio function. try testing those configurations starting from the default. make sure you have the zoom function set at 0 before fiddling with the ratio aspect.
