My phone is 3 months old and I've never had any problem with it but tonight when I went to charge it a message came on the screen which said "unable to charge". The battery bar level is on the 1st bar and the phone beeps that the battery is low. Help!
I too have a similar problem and fear the contacts may have been pushed in.
I would GREATLY appreciate a HOW-TO on taking apart this phone if you know of a way. I too have a similar problem and fear the contacts may have been pushed in.

Yep, female connectors on the phone side look dirty, and the male side on the charger connector look uneven, as if one they've recessed into their mount. Only 1 out of 10 times does the phone charge, and never completely. I doubt that it's a battery problem cause it's ony 1.2 years old. Not happy. Had the same problem. I ended up cutting the head off the charger and connecting hook clips to the charger wires (radio shack $3.00). The positive pin on the battery is on the far right when looking at the battery pins up, and the negative is far left.Had the same problem. Motoman63 is right! I had the same problem, searched it on this site and got the soft toothbrush out. It seems to have solved the problem for now. Called Alltel and they're sending me a free replacement.
Don't know why they couldn't fix this at the store. Lesson learned: make sure you have your contact info stored somewhere for later and easy transfer. Motoman63 is right! This is a very common problem on the 815. One thing you try is to carefully clean the charging contacts with a soft tooth brush. This will often solve the problem. Many times I have seem the contacts recess themselves in the connector. This may be caused by a poor or dirty connection, causing it to heat up and melt the plastic. The constant pressure pushes the contacts in causing the shorter center pin on the male connector not to make contact. In this case you might as well look for another phone. The connector takes very specialized tools to replace. These contacts are the "weak link" inthe e815 and cause many problems.

phone batteries have a limited user time before they are flat try charging it for a couple of hours then if the screen is still black take it to a repair shop.
hey try repairing your windows with your operating system CD once...or you may have to reformat it..then it will be like new..first backup all the data in C Drive.(OS drive)
First take the battery out for a second. then put it back in and put the charger in the hole on the phone. Hold the start button and it should say phone charging. Glad I could Help!
COULD BE THE PHONE BUT MOST LIKELY ITS THE CHARGER, IF ITS AFTERMARKET GET RID OF IT AND BUY OEM, TRY AND TEST IT OUT WOULD A FREINDS MOTOROLA CHARGER SINCE THEY'RE MOSTLY THE SAME CHARGERS AND SEE IF YOU STILL GET THE MESSAGE.
have you tried measuring the output voltage on the charger?? if not... use a multimeter to check if there is a voltage coming out on the charger.. if there is... you doomed.... the charging module (charging IC) on your phone is fckd..
