We have a Kenmore fridge with water dispenser. The dispenser is inside the fridge (not in the door like most). Anyway, when I try to get water I can hear a motor or something trying to work. But no water is dispensed. I checked the water supply line and there is plenty of free flowing water going into the fridge. Please help as I think I am pretty handy and can't get support from the people at Sears.

I have a Sears side by side refrigerator. The water in the door is not working. It is making ice however water is not coming out from the door. I have changed the water filter. I've read where the reservoir freezes but I don't know where to look for it. I cleaned the coils as they were very plugged with lint.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Make sure that the damper between the freezer and the refridgerator is not broken or froozen open. This has happened to me on my GE Profile side by side twice now (known design problem). Be careful with this as I have read of folks that didn't get this fixed and thier water reservoir froze and cracked, leaked water and flooded thier house. I would make sure that you shut off the water supply until you get the problem fixed!

Hello, sounds to me that the line inside of the door is cracked. Their is no easy way to repair that, either the entire door must be disassambled to replace that line,or replace the outerdoor panel with the line embedded into it,to replace the door panel it requires transfering all the compentents fmor old to new door panel, a partial list of things that must be transfered parts from old to new outer door include but not limited to inner door panel door gasket dispenser asm (which cant come out as one piece and must to disassabbled into appx. 20 parts) wiring hinges door handles
Don't know what is the model number of your fridge. 1.Need check electric water valve under the fridge. If that fridge made by GE (Kenmore just a Sears brand name and they use several others manufacturers for refrigeration), usually it's a frozen plastic water supply line inside freezer door. You could unplug fridge for 24 hours (you have to put food from freezer to other freezer).
This could be a bad water valve for dispenser on back of fridge or poor connection in the dispenser control. If you could get me the model number I will be able to help you better.
Look at following areas for the model number
Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
I had the same problem, in reading a bunch of other similiar issues with various models, the best thing I found was that the water line inside the freezer door is frozen. I had to isolate this portion of my water line from the wall all the way through the frigde. It you unplug, take out screws from he back cardboard cover so you can follow the waterline through the fridge. The valves are pretty easy to take apart/put together. To take apart a valve, just press down on the ring around the valve the pull the connecting apart. To put back together, push the same ring down, then push the connection back together. To check the water flow, plug the fridge back in and have some one push the water dispenser as you check each valve. I suspect the problem is in the freezer door, so you should just check the valve under the bottom left side of the freezer door. From here to the dispenser the water line goes through the door. I used a blow dryer to heat up the inside of the freezer door just behind and below the dispenser unit for about 5 minutes. Try and run the water again and it should work. Good luck
Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?
