I can't get water from my water dispenser

We have a Kenmore fridge with water dispenser. The dispenser is inside the fridge (not in the door like most). Anyway, when I try to get water I can hear a motor or something trying to work. But no water is dispensed. I checked the water supply line and there is plenty of free flowing water going into the fridge. Please help as I think I am pretty handy and can't get support from the people at Sears.

MY next step is to check if the ice maker is working. The freezer is on top if that helps. I recently put in a new filter, 2 months ago. Would I get water without the filter? Also, if the ice maker works, but the water doesn't what does that tell me. Thank you for the reply, as I do not know much about refrigerators

It was frozen, Thanks!!!! Should I lower a temp setting (higher temp) to prevent this from happening? Or what causes a freeze. I've had the fridge for two years, and this is the first time it has occurred (I do not belive the temp settings have been changed).

My GE side by side refrigerator has water and ice dispensers in the door. It is three years old. The icemaker works fine but we get no water from the water dispenser. Please help.

I have a Frigidaire side by side that wasn't making ice and the water dispenser was coming out very slowly. I bought a new filter and installed it. The water dispenser iis now fine but it still doesn't seem to be making ice. This happened once before and I called an applianace repairman. He took some tubing in the back off and there was ice in it..He cleaned it out and it was fine...Is that tubing behind a square metal panel???

I have a GE side by side refrigerator. The water in the door is not working. It is making ice however water is not coming out from the door. I changed the water filter and even lowered the refrigerator temperature and it still doesn't work. I've read where the reservoir freezes but I don't know where to look for it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Dear the dr, I have a jenn air french door, bottom freezer with very low water flow with a new filter and good ice supply. I see your response that something may be frozen. Do I just shut off fridge for a while or turn down inside temp for a bit?

    Thank you

if the ice maker still works than you know the filter is ok and it may be the water valve located in the unit compartment on the back (cardboard cover) what is the model number???

sometimes if you go on a trip or something and the unit is left with the doors shut for a long period of time it gets just cold enough for the water to make the state change, yes and raise both settings a little warmer you may be very close to 32 degrees with the settings now. And your welcome thanks for the rating!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Sears side by side refrigerator. The water in the door is not working. It is making ice however water is not coming out from the door. I have changed the water filter. I've read where the reservoir freezes but I don't know where to look for it. I cleaned the coils as they were very plugged with lint.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Where is the damper at?

Make sure that the damper between the freezer and the refridgerator is not broken or froozen open. This has happened to me on my GE Profile side by side twice now (known design problem). Be careful with this as I have read of folks that didn't get this fixed and thier water reservoir froze and cracked, leaked water and flooded thier house. I would make sure that you shut off the water supply until you get the problem fixed!

Kenmore side-by-side not dispensing ice or water, the ice maker has been replaced, no water going into the tray. I cannot locate the water filter, does this model have one?

Don't know what is the model number of your fridge. 1.Need check electric water valve under the fridge. If that fridge made by GE (Kenmore just a Sears brand name and they use several others manufacturers for refrigeration), usually it's a frozen plastic water supply line inside freezer door. You could unplug fridge for 24 hours (you have to put food from freezer to other freezer).

We have a Hotpoint side by side fridge. It always makes

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

This could be a bad water valve for dispenser on back of fridge or poor connection in the dispenser control. If you could get me the model number I will be able to help you better. Look at following areas for the model number
  • Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
  • On Plate Lower Front Or Rear Of Cabinet
  • Beside Compressor Door On Right End
  • Near Rear Of Cabinet
  • Inside Liner At Top

Water dispenser...

I had the same problem, in reading a bunch of other similiar issues with various models, the best thing I found was that the water line inside the freezer door is frozen. I had to isolate this portion of my water line from the wall all the way through the frigde. It you unplug, take out screws from he back cardboard cover so you can follow the waterline through the fridge. The valves are pretty easy to take apart/put together. To take apart a valve, just press down on the ring around the valve the pull the connecting apart. To put back together, push the same ring down, then push the connection back together. To check the water flow, plug the fridge back in and have some one push the water dispenser as you check each valve. I suspect the problem is in the freezer door, so you should just check the valve under the bottom left side of the freezer door. From here to the dispenser the water line goes through the door. I used a blow dryer to heat up the inside of the freezer door just behind and below the dispenser unit for about 5 minutes. Try and run the water again and it should work. Good luck

Freezer Drawer won't open on Kenmore 22" Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Try raising the door. It may be off the roller tracks inside. If you get it to open you'll find the problem. These tracks are like kitchen drawer tracks.

Kenmore Refrigerator stopped dispensing water

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?
