Check Fan No 2 3 error message - Samsung HLN617WX

Started getting Check Fan No 2 error message, so I ordered a new fan and replaced it. The new fan is still not spinning in back when turned on and I got the same message. Waited a week now and took another look but now the message includes fan 3 when I turn it on. Cannot change sources as everytime the message blinks it resets the menu.
What is Fan 3, and could both Fan 2's be bad? Or is it the actual board?
Have already replaced the lamp and the color wheel within the past year having a tech do both of those jobs (although I could have done the lamp myself after watching that).

Thank you. Is the 12v circuit something that can be replaced easily? I have not heard this issue before. I have seen the possibility of the DMD board, but that would require a tech to come out and do the repair from what I have read, and we are not in a position right now to do that.

Solution is helpful. But still trying to find the correct part, and "how" to replace the board.

When that happens it is not the fan, but it is the 12V circuit that is powering all fans that is bad.

If for example you have a short on fan 2 connector, this can start telling Check fan 2, then cut onboard circuit from fan 2 to fan 3 and it will end up prompting replace fan 3.

Another reason that can cause multiple fan errors is a faulty thermic sensor on DMD board.

Fan 3 is not always present, when it is installed, fan 3 will be attached to DMD board and its function will be cooling down the AC ballast board that supplies power to the lamp.

How to fix "fan failure projector will shut down automatically" error message after replacing a blower fan?

Hi,

please check the serial number of the fans that are supposed to be the same. They might be different in some way because otherwise, the error should not have occurred. If the products have the same serial number or similar type of id, then I would take the projector to geeksquad/bestbuy to double check that the new fan was installed properly.

Thank you.

Our Samsung TV model HLT6187SAX\XAA is displaying a message on screen "Check fan # 2" Red and green lights on the lower right front are flashing. What does this mean?

There is a bad fan in your T.V. You would have to open it, see which fan isn't spinning, get the part number for the fan, order it and replace it.

Which is the #2 fan on hls6186wx/xaa samsung tv this message appears then tv turns itself off after a few minitues

I have a Samsung model HL-S6186 since 2006 and one month out of a 5year extended it would cut of by itself. I would turn it back on and it just progressively worse. After looking at the stories on the internet with others who had similar problems, i ordered a new lamp online for $ 56.00 with the same specs. Put the lamp back and found out that there was arching where the lamp connects to the rear. I dissembled everything cleaned the contacts and repaired the one burnt connector on the new lamp with a connector from the old lamp. Turned the tv on and now i got a check fan #1 problem. ordered an exact lamp fan from Amazon.com for $ 15.00. When it arrived i pulled everything apart and replace the fan, still got a check # 1 fan error message. I was able to download a free service schematic that covers the HL-S5086 Tv. After studying the signal flow i pulled out the DMB board and use a cheap multimeter from Radio Shack that had an audible continuity check position. Just to clarify a few points, on the DMD board the top female connector is from the Lamp ballast/Driver, the middle female connector labeled #cn805 on the board says fan # 3, when it is actually fan # 2 for error messages, and the bottom female connector on the board is labeled fan # 2 , when it is actually fan # 1 for error messages. With the DMD board in my hand and checking the continuity between all three pins of the connector, i discovered that i didn't get continuity between the top most pin where the color code is yellow for the the negative signal that the DMD board is looking for when all is working with these tube axial fans. Sure enough i realize that in my disconnecting the # fan connector i must have cause the solder joint to come loose or it must be a manufactory flaw in the process. The other two connections soldered on the board were solid. After shaking the female connector with receiving pins i decided to resolder the whole connector. This could be very delicate. For some reason the point where the # 1 fan signal gets to the DMD processor would not solder right. Not wanting to destroy the delicate $ 269.00 board , i just soldered a piece of earphone insulated fine wire from the connector point on top to the underside of the printed circuit board just before the signal goes to it's first component.I then cut out a 1/4 inch section of the trim metal that snaps on to the DMD board to insure that it won't tear loose my work. I then Check the continuity between the connector pin where the signal comes from the fan and the underside and i got an audible continuity sound. I put everything back together and my problems are solved. I only need to re-adjust the 4 tension screws that surround the heat sink to place the picture dead center. Be careful when you pull on all connectors, ensure that you bend the tabs the tug gently. Hope this helps someone out there. Incidently i have working and troubleshooting this problem for two weeks, in the meantime due to the basketball and the Super Bowl coming i panicked and went out and purchased my first Samsung 59 inch Plasma Tv package deal with a Blue Ray DVD player an glasses. The 2006 DLP Tv is workin great and the picture is much brighter than before. I have an extra new fan now in case the old # 1 lamp fan fails.

Check Fan No. 2 Error Message

The DMD board you installed is bad. It senses the detection line from the fan and generates the error code. Try installing the old DMD board.

I replaced the fan # 2 after getting that error on

Which fan did samsung say was fan #2 ? As from my experience dealing with Samsung they dont know the difference between the fans but fan 2 error is usually refering to the fan under the light engine in the L7 and the L6 its the small one in the gray plastic case which blows under the ballast.

Samsung sp50l6hd it is showing up on the sceen fan 2 error can any one help?

If a “Fan error message appears on the screen:

1. Look at the fans to see if they are running while the unit is on. If not running check the connector. If the connector is good replace the fan.

2. If all fans are operating, problem is in the fan detection circuit, Actuator, Protection Board or Digital Board.

If a “Check Fan” message appears on the screen:

Take a look at the fans while the unit is on. If a fan is not operating, check the connector to that fan. If the connection is good, replace the fan. If the fan is still not operating you have a problem with one of PCBs.
