The nakajima ae610 types two vertical lines instead of letters

The print hammer is striking between the letters. Two thing
you may have a petal, letter broken off. If its the same letter every time usually thats it, need new daisy wheel.
Or Homing is off when the wheel turns hammer hits between letters. Needs repair.
Or
Daisy wheel petals are bent.

It sometimes types the letter s,t,and sometimes it replaces them with two vertical lines.

Most likely one or more of the spokes is bent on the print wheel. Remove the wheel and turn it by hand you can usually straighten them. The vertical lines are from the face of the hammer when it misses the letter.

Wrong letters are printed

The Daisy wheel is probably in wrong..reinstall it until it spins to the home position. Its either that or an adjustment to the print wheel motor.

I am trying to type a letter but when I strike the letter g it types a $. None of the keys seem to be lined up with the correct letter on the wheel. How do you correct this problem?

there is a slide switch on the L.H. side of the key board that reads 10,12,15, PS
the switch needs to match the print wheel stile you have in your typewriter. most typ's have 10 or 12.
PS stands for proportional spacing a takes a spicule print wheel
