BEAM Serenity Plus 2900 has shutdown

Was vacuuming dirt in the basement for past day and a half off/on. Today tried to fire it up..no go. checked the back - emptied it. Wasn't all that full. Checked the power - no prob there. Is there a reset button for this unit if it had overheated??

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. OK, there is a reset button on the unit but i think it could be that your vacuum could be clogged in the vacuum lines and that you should check all the inlets/outlets in your house with your vacuum hose - or get a vacuum cuff and go to each individual outlets and check the suction by feel - if the outlet is clogged you may have to call someone to unclogg it or by going to each oultlet the system may unclog it self -- or you can use a plumbers snake and be careful because the lines in a central vacuum are thinner than the walls in a plumbing situation or have it professionally unclogged by a priofessional. When you are using another vacuum to unclog the unit make sure the central vac is runing and to try to pull the clog apart from both directions. Below is a link to the factory for Beam and if you need a owners manuel for the Central Vac

Check the drive belt and then check to make sure the cleaning bar is free of hair. This will cause a burning smell. I know, I raised 4 girls.....

Need to change the belt but can't get into the place where the belt is

You are just not looking hard enough for the fasteners to open this up. I am not familiar with this unit but I would guess there are screws holding it together the are usually concealed in deep channels. If you shine a light in them you should see the screw heads.

System not working when switched on.Observed 3 amp fuse blown. Replaced with 13 amp fuse and switched to manual. Sparks and noise coming from one motor. ? brushes or motor need replacing.

Fuses blow for a reason. It's never a good idea to replace a fuse with a higher amp one. House fires can easily be started this way.
As for the motor, at this point the whole motor will need replaced.

Having a loss of suction issue. Has some suction but isn't enough to use the power head. Tried to take out the filter to wash it but the pull loop ripped off. How do I get the filter out now without...

You should be able to get a screwdriver or tool under the ring to be able to get ahold of enough to pull it out. Check the suction (a suction gage helps) at the power unit and then at all inlet valves. It could be a leak or clog somewhere in there. You have to check all areas to try to narrow down the problem. Look for a loose hose, tube, valve, fitting etc. Check Vac pans closely if you have them.

Carbon buildup on plug to hose causing burn

Sounds like there could be a short in the hose. Try another hose and see if that's the problem. It's too soon to have to replace the unit. Try having the hose checked out, it could be the root of your problem
