I have tried several times to download a tv programme on catch up TV.The programme comes up as 'downloading' but subsequently it comes up as 'failed' Any suggestions?

Freeview TV is received through an aerial and the reception is only available locally. If South Africa has free-to-air TV transmissions you will be able to receive them if you are in the reception area and have the appropriate set-top box and aerial.

Most UK TV companies have websites that allow viewing of current programmes plus catch-up viewing of series and recent programmes and special interest programmes for sometimes an extended time.
I expect many TV stations around the world have a similar arrangement so it your internet connection is good enough you should be able to watch TV programmes from many nations on your computer.

If your internet isn't so good you could explore the world of international radio which sometimes has a much better picture than TV (in your mind's eye).

it sounds like it is a mechanical problem (i think the ray tube broke)

it looks like the tv needs to be professionally repaired or replaced

hello, this sounds more like a cable or satelite problem. hame you tried reseting your cable or sat box? usually when you reset the box it will download the guide again...

 

the easy way is just google your tv how to do this set up is found on you tube you google search your tv then free view re-tune on you tube then scroll down to it.

This may not be as helpful as either of us would wish, but I had the same problem with my Finlux TV. It seems to be a fact that they do not make all programmes available on "Catch Up", as I found out one day when trying to watch something on Catch Up online, when some of them were only available for a very short time unless you were subscribing to one of the major entertainment suppliers.

This worked for me.....(from the Top Up TV website)
Purge VOD.
Press the menu button
Scroll down to Option 4 and press OK
Scroll down to Option 6 and press OK
In the help menu press 1397 on the remote control quickly and in sequence
Scroll down to the 'Purge VOD Schedule' option (next page) and press OK
Remember the DTR must be either on or left in standby at all times to receive the EPG and programme downloads. • The guide will update at the next scheduled slot (between 11am and 12pm daily).

Updates are also quicker if you change from 14 day EPG to the 8 day version...
Guide > Set-Up (4) > Change box settings (2) > TV guide type (9) > back arrow > Continue (green button)

Download its user manual, and check audio settings. Refer it. If all settings are OK, still no sound output with on-air programmes, teh sound detector section has the fault. Seek tech support. This is a skilled work, and need all measuring instruments and through knowledge in electronics.

Archos 605 Wifi w/ Archos DVR Station Gen 5

You have posed a very good question with a very complicated answer. There are two things you MUST have in order to do what you are asking:
1) Your "docking station" cannot be the Archos mini-dock, b/c the mini dock has inputs only. Your docking station must be the Archos DVR Station - Gen 5.
2) You have to have a digital cable box, FIOS, or digital satellite box.

You will be recording from your cable, satellite, or FIOS box instead of directly from your TV. Hook the red, white, and yellow cable from one of the red, white and yellow outputs of your cable/sat/FIOS box to the specialized adapter of the DVR Station (make sure your Archos 605 is properly docked inside). Once the connection is set up, you must follow the exact directions printed on pp.11-15 of the DVR Station user manual - it will require downloading several pieces of software. My only reccomendation is that you make sure that the Archos 605 is fully charged before proceeding, b/c if it loses power during the process, you may ruin your mp3 player. If you have followed the instructions exactly, you will be able to schedule your recordings to your Archos 605.

There are two catches that I noticed with this player - 1 major and one not-so major:
1) Not-so major: Your subscription to the TV guide that enables you to schedule recordings will only be free for 1 year
2) Major: The DVR Station forces you to choose between an NTSC and a PAL format when choosing a TV standard for playback. PAL is only for Europe, so never select it under any circumstances. NTSC is shutting down on February 17, 2009 - in a little more than a month. After that time, you may not be able to display the recordings that you have made to your TV itself.
