I have a HP Colour LaserJet 1500L which worked fine with my XP. When I bought a new computer with Vista, there was no HP driver for the 1500L. With help, I was able to set it up with the USB001 port and the XP driver. It worked fine, without any problem. When I had problems with the computer (a Dell Inspiron 1720) I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Vista. I tried to set the printer up the same way as before, and indeed the driver installs without any problem and it says it is working OK. However now, every time I try to print, from whatever program, the program itself crashes and nothing prints. Does anyone have any idea what the problem and how to fix it? I have tried going back to a restore point before the printer was installed and starting from there, but it doesn't help. I'm not anxious to go through the trauma of reformatting/reinstalling Vista again, especially since that was what caused the problem in the first place. Thanks for any suggestions. Bruce

Go to HP.com check Support page. If they don't have it then it doesn't exist. They didn't have drivers for my 1000 when vista came out. They have to find some way to drive new printer sales.

I thought the problem. Short-circuit in bus management. Short circuit in electronics management (Dc Controller ОЕМ -RG5-6959). Dc Controller switched OEM-RG5-6959 with a new one.
This printer will work with Vista. I use the driver that Vista provides with the standard HP internal network card and it works fine. Try putting your network card back in and undoing the USB adapter changes. Then just go in and add it back with the "Add Printer" wizard.
My compliments on the 4550, though. It's a great printer. A bit slow compared to what's out there new, but a workhorse that will last nearly forever.
Not according to their website, is is not incompatable.
You need to download and instal the new software and drivers for VISTA,thats all.

Depends on whether the "lines" are colored or just blank areas missing in the print . If it is blank areas , then most likely the laser scanner is dirty and the glass needs to be cleaned . If it is colored lines , then you most likely have a defective drum .
