With wilson antennas you don't have to need to run duals the proper way to adjust the SWR is to get an external meter like a trucker 2000 and a dummy load. you hook the dummy load to one antenna while working with the other and then switch the operation around. this way both antennas are matched seperatly yet work together.

SOURCE: 29 lx le new 200

The "Antenna Warning" came up on my radio too, a new Cobra 29LX, but I found another bunch of people having the same problem. This alert that you are seeing is only supposed to basically come up on that screen if there antenna is not connected. There is a simple adjustment inside the radio. The component is a little potentiometer that has to be turned with a little tiny screw driver. You can do this yourself, just look for the PDF file online that explains and shows you how to do it in a few seconds.

Here you can finds the link to the PDF file right here.

This is an easy adjustment. I fixed my false warning in a few seconds.

SOURCE: swr co phase issue

When two antennae are cophased the harness should be made from 75ohm cable and then connected at the "T" then 50ohm to the radio. The spacing between the antennae is critical to the pattern of radiation and resistance of the system. If they are not the proper space apart for the length of the harness, you will not be able to tune them.

SOURCE: swr to hi and can t get it down

So... With that 2 inches shortened, check your swr on 40 and 1 again, and if it is still showing higher on channel 40 then one, keep shortening it. I have seen antenna's get shortened as much as 6 or more inches to achieve a good match.

Measure out your coax in 3ft intervals. Like if you need 7ft use a 9ft length of coax. Also make sure your mirrors are grounded use a external swr meter as well, the internal swr on the galaxy could be off. .

Did they set the swr on the new antenna for you? check the installation of antenna system. make sure the insulator is ontop of mirror mount. Check SWR's.. use a dummy load on the coax and check it to make sure its ok..... if you had bad swr before you changed antennas the rf finals may be bad in the radio. simple $10-20 repair.@ a Decent shop. don't pay more than that. have them check the swr's they should do it for FREEEE!!!.. unless theres a problem like cables, mounts bad ie...also have the radio checked that should be FREE too to have it checked on a bench.. i don't charge unless theres a problem, and the customer wants it fixed. here in temple, tx hwy 95&fm93....

How to do basic set up

Is this setup in your car or at you home? Many use a mobile CB in there home off a power supply. First your antenna is a major part of your set up. Spare nothing when buying this. I recommend Wilson 300 or higher for the mobile and IMAX 2000 for home. Some Wilson antennas tune easier than others. Follow the instructions that come with it and ask me if you are unsure. A good 50ohm coax is necessary too. RG58 or better. For just the CB in the mobile RG58 will do just fine. At home I use RG213U. Now we get to your SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) which deals with return loss and reflection coefficient. To high of an SWR and you will lose a lot of your signal and you can burn up your radio. You will need to purchase an SWR/watt meter and put it inline. The coax from your antenna will run into your meter and then run another coax from your meter into the radio and follow the instructions on how to adjust and check your SWR. So now we are at the point where your set up is properly set up.

My radio is about 4 years old. A year ago I had it sent it to get worked on and everything was fine with it when it was sent it. I got a mini wil magnetic antenna mount and it worked great for about 9...

The little wil is not a terrific antenna. I have one and I can't get it less then 1.7 no matter what I do, and I have an antenna analyzer that lets me see real time what it's tuned at while adjusting the antenna. I tried it on another vehicle and I couldn't get it under 2 swr no matter how I adjusted the antenna.

A barefoot radio should be fine with an SWR of 2 or less, however I do not like to run any radio above 1.5 SWR, and I like to get it even lower then that.

I recommend stepping up to a wilson 1000. I have been able to get every wilson 1000 I have ever tuned down to at least a 1.1 SWR. A true 1.1. You cannot get a true SWR from the meter in the radio, you need an analyzer. So if you can get it too a 1.1 on an analyzer then you have a really excellent match.

Little wil is an inexpensive antenna made for some one who is not a serious CB'r. It for the guy/gal who wants a radio for emergency. If you are planning to talk a lot on the radio, go up to at least a wilson 1000.

Cb radio

As for me ,the Wilson 1000 or Wilson 2000 are the best mobile antenna for a mobile. I have out talked a lot of base antennas with them, just put it on the top of car in the center or trunk, or middle of cab of truck, with a good SWR and you are talking and receiving. great antenna. ...hope this helps..

Your antenna is probably still to long. You need to do a few things to see if your antenna is too long or too short. Here is a link to something I found that is very informative, and a post on how to do what you need to do. there is also a thread on the site that has common problems for high swr.

Setting SWR

hi ken, SWR has nothing to do with your power supply, Standing wave ratio, It is the amount of power which is reflected back to the radio when transmitting, If you have a SWR of 10 or over on a wilson 5000 I would imagine you have a short in your feed line[coax].
I would replace the pl259 connector and check the coax for damage.
