I have a Samson XP501i and I want to also hook up a monitor to it. I have a Samson POWERED monitor - 800 watts. Will that work? Or will it blow up my PA?

You can safely connect your powered monitor speaker to either the monitor output jacks or the tape output RCA jacks on your XP510. In addition, you may download the owner's manual here:

H4n zoom wont record says card protected

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Have a problem with the xp510i - left channel has no output to speaker. Tested with other speaker and cable - appears to be the mixer.

"Tested with other speaker and cable" ... you did not tell us the results of the test. If swapping the speakers and cablles still had the same dead side, it is probably the power amp for that side and not the mixer part. Take in for repair. If you had an accident of speaker cable not being plugged in fully or pulled out while operating, this pops the power amp real quick. They also just plain fail at times. Plug a set of headphones into the MONO out jack. If you can hear audio going through the unit then the mixer is OK... and the power amp on the failing side has a failure. Note the headphones will be low level and probably only one side, usually the left as this is a mono signal and headphones are normally stereo.

I just bought a Zoom H1 and the SD card won't format. What should I do?

OK... first thing is to make sure the SD card is 2 Gb or less as larger won't work.

Many of the SD card has a protect switch that prevents writing to the card... it is a real tiny littl thing to move with your fingernail. You might need a magnifier to see it.

When I turn on the amp the indicator lights comw on and seem ok for 3 or 4 secs and then there is a click and the amp lights go out even though power is still showing as on.

Sounds like the amp is going into a protective mode.
Make sure your outputs aren't shorted.
If you're into electronics, look for bulging electrolytic capacitors or blown transistors.
Something is tripping the safety in the unit!
