Vacuum problems? I have a vibration noise and a whistle under the dash of my 2005 Trailblazer after it warms.I have had the entire dash out of it and cannot find where the noise is coming from. It makes this noise when the rpms are neutral. When I accelerate or let off it stops.

SOURCE: loud noise with vibration

Your impeller is almost certainly cracked or shattered. I just changed mine today after I sucked up a small 1/4" screw. Unbelievable how much damage a tiny object can cause! The kit can be purchased at the popular online auction. I got mine from seller "cleaner48" for $18 with S&H. Get the kit with the latex sealant included. This is a must or your machine will blow dust all over. The seller's site gives instructions but he also sends them with the kit.

The repair took me 1-1/4 hours. I needed a Phillips screwdriver and a medium flat head screwdriver. Not too hard. You must remove about 12 screws and 3 large parts to get at the impeller.

SOURCE: Loud whistling noise from back of vacuum

On the back side of most kenmore vacuums, there is an air relief diaphragm that, when the motor is sucking but there is no air flow, will pop, causing the sound you heard. check your hose for blockage, check your bag and or filter for blockage, even your attachments/wands can become lodged with debris. Often, after a few, the motor will get hot and the machine will shut down. This is a thermostat on the motor that protects it from overheating. I am quite sure that this will solve your kenmore woes, fine choice in vacuum, kenmore, tried and true. hope to have helped! Have a super, and hopefully sucking(ha ha) Sunday

SOURCE: Flair Cleaner makes squeaking noises

There are two items that could squeak:
If it squeaks when pushing/pulling it on carpet, WHILE NOT RUNNING, then the wheels are squeaking when they rotate on the wheel shaft. If so, one drop of oil at the shaft would fix it.

If it squeaks WHILE RUNNING, mostly while pulling backwards on carpet, then the belt is slipping. You may wish to set the nozzle height setting for a higher pile carpet, or could replace the rubber belt.

Why does my Rigid shop vac make a high pitched whistle with a long hose on it but not a short hose?

The high pitched whistle that you are hearing from your Rigid shop vac with a long hose may be due to several reasons. Here are some possible causes:
    1. Airflow restriction: When you use a longer hose with your shop vac, it increases the airflow resistance, which can cause a whistling noise. This is because the motor has to work harder to maintain suction, and the increased resistance can cause turbulence in the airflow, creating the whistling sound.
    2. Hose size: The size of the hose can also affect the whistling noise. A smaller diameter hose can increase airflow resistance, which can cause the same issue as a longer hose.
    3. Clogs or blockages: If there are clogs or blockages in the hose, this can also cause the whistling noise. Check the hose and attachments for any obstructions, and remove them if necessary.
    4. Vacuum motor issue: In some cases, the whistling noise may be due to a problem with the vacuum motor itself. This could be caused by a damaged impeller, a loose fan blade, or other issues with the motor.
To fix the issue, you can try the following:
    1. Shorten the hose: If possible, try using a shorter hose to see if the whistling noise goes away. A shorter hose will reduce the airflow resistance and may help to eliminate the noise.
    2. Check for blockages: Inspect the hose and attachments for any clogs or blockages. Remove any obstructions that you find.
    3. Clean or replace the filter: If the vacuum filter is dirty, this can cause airflow resistance and make the motor work harder, leading to the whistling noise. Clean or replace the filter as necessary.
    4. Check the vacuum motor: If none of the above solutions work, you may need to inspect the vacuum motor for any issues. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, you can take the shop vac to a professional for repair.

Loud whistling noise it is just going on five years old when I pull it backward a loud noise emmits

If you whistling is only happening when pulling back on the machine, the problem is with the connection between the bag housing and the swivel neck. There is a rubber gasket between the two, located on the bottom of the bag housing. Check to see if this seal is in place. If it is there and in good shape, check for excessive wear on either the swivel neck or bag housing. Windsor Sensor Vacuum Seal 5163 86144910 allstar javelin

    Whistle noise from filter

Try moving the filter a little while it is running. This is a common problem caused by the air bypassing the filter. The more clogged the filter is the more it will whistle but sometimes it will whistle with a new filter. Sometimes you may get it stopped for a while but then it will start up again or come and go.
