Error 41 Hello. Each time I turn on my Brother MFC 4820c, it at first go through its booting process and then comes up with the error code #41. It is simply a very sensitive device in terms of handling. I have done some services to it myself like cleaning the blocked ink areas and it was working as at then. This error #41 came as a result of sending some documents to print with sufficient paper in the tray. It should have just make some beep sound to indicate that it has run out of paper, rather it gave an error. Hope the analysis helps in your troubleshooting. Thanks Gourgopal.

    My Brother MCF-4820C, displayed the screen message:

    ERR. MACHINE 41

    Switch off the machine and contact your vender

    Yes, when i put the printer on, it boots up and the display comes up


    Machine Error 41. Brother told me that the print head was faulty. Trouble is
    i have 13 cartridges 'in stock'

Error 41 means that the printhead is defective and has to be replaced by a new one. The internal piezo-electric is rotten. Sorry, no way to repair the printhead. A new printhead is more expensive than a new mfc

Have code 44 on screen and printer does not work
Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Error #41
This is a normally a printhead error. You can try cleaning it, or replacing it. I went down that route with an Epson . . .It turned out to be more of a hassle, and did not solve the root problem. If still under warranty I would call the manufacturer (Brother). If it's out of warranty, and you can not change the printhead, I would replace it.

Printer- mechanical error 41
Error 41 means there is a major problem with the printhead, usually
requires a print head replacement. My advice is to take it to a
Brother service centre while it is under warranty. If it's out of
warranty then it is cheaper to purchase a new, non Brother model. If you have been using non-Brother cartridges or refills, they can have too much water in them and it erodes the print head after a while. Usually just after warranty has expired!

Brother MFC 3220c machine error 41
I had the same problem with a Brother MFC3420C after replacing the print head with a new one the same error 41 occured 4 weeks later.

I finally fixed the problem (see photo's) and sent the parts back to Brother :-)

Don't buy Brother Inkjet technology its all ****!.

Their laser technology seems to be much more robust and reliable, have had a Brother HL-1440 since 2004 and its still running well.

Hi, Unfortunately, this is caused by the printer head. It will gradually stop working. However, some things to try is to clean the print head. This is literally opening the printer and cleaning the head. Also, avoid using refill ink cartridges as they damage the print head a lot quicker. Get brand new cartridge if you are using refills. If this still doesn't help, then the print head have already been damaged and need to be replaced. By the way, if this printer is still under warranty, brother should replace either the printer or the print head for you free of cost.
