I got a GMC Sierra with a 350 engine and a 7r400 transmission. My issue is when I turn left and right or go up hills my transmission has issues shifting. Transmission good its been removed and checked out. . . . well I got a bent leaf spring on driver side which make back end of truck sit with a lean towards driver side. Is it possible when I turn, being that leaf spring is bent, that its teeter totting the truck, making the back wheel to lose traction in rear end and is causeing it not to shift right? or could it be leaf spring and maybe frame also?. . . . . . Its a 89 GMC Sierra single cab SS, originally had a 454 but since ive owned it its got 350 in it.

well when I go to turn left on a road, transmission starts to shift but then stops and down shift. im thinking being rear end is positive traction, when I turn its lifting the driver side tire up. Both back tires have to be on ground for both to turn the same way and being the driver side lifts up its just kinda rolling till it touches back down

Okay the transmission is probably fine ,,,but if you are having these problems like this have your trans axles checked out ..anytime you put the vehicle in a bind that creates hard shifting you are heading for expensive repairs ..Have the ball joints checked as well to see if all of this smooths the transmission out ..It could be something simple ..also remember that a faulty steering can cause this

SOURCE: noise in front end, sounds

You say the rear wheel axles and bearings have been replaced, you mention nothing of the front wheels, you have the symptoms of a front wheel bearing being worn out, remove them and check for pitting in the bearing rollers or the bearing races, I am sure you will find a problem. Hope this helps solve your issue with the bearing noise.

What size engine goes into a 1991 gmc sierra 2300

2300????? Huh. I though they were 1500, 2500. i could be wrong. ususaly in the 3/4 tonne vehciles, they have a small block V8. I hae seen quite often a 350 cubic inch...but, depending on your transmission and engine braket mounts, not to mention mechanic skills and fabrication abilities, you could put whatever you want in it...As i said, probably a 350 small block is what was in there...probably

I have a 1992 Gmc sierra manual transmission, the gears are hard

It is an adjustment or clutch replacenment issue. Manual transmissions rarely have a lube issue unless you have seen a big puddle of very thick oil in the driveway.

I think I'd be looking at the clutch of this 16 year old vehicle. Unless you have the tools, time and skill to change the clutch, this is probably a job better left to a professional. Adjusting the clutch mechanism might help for a while but I think you will soon need a clutch job on your GMC.

Speedometer does not work 1991 GMC Sierra 2500

the turbo 350 doesn't have a output speed sensor like the trans that came with the truck orginaly. You will have to use a cable to drive a pluse generator,or switch the tail shaft housing with a 700r4e housing of the same length, and use the speed sender from the 700r4e or early 4l60e. note the tail shaft is the same splines but the 350 shaft detent hole my not line up with the relucture ring. therfor the output shaft needs to be change to, or have a relucter ring made.
