Question about Logitech Harmony 550 Remote Control
To get your 550 out of safe mode, follow these steps.
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the '2' button down.
3. While still holding the '2' button down, replace the batteries.
4. The remote will boot into the normal functionality.
Note: If the 'Off' button is held down while inserting the batteries, the remote will boot into 'Safe Mode'.

I just got off the phone with Logitech, and while they couldn't fix my remote, to get it into, and out of safe mode, they had me take the batteries out, hold either POWER to get it into safe mode, or 2 to get it out of safe mode WHILE PLUGGING IT INTO THE USB with the batteries out. Don't know if this will help or not...

Another person indicated that you take the batteries out, hold down the 2 while plugging in to the USB port to take it out of Safe Mode. I tried this and it works.
My comment goes a little beyond. As soon as I put the batteries back in the unit, it gave me a message that the batteries needed to be replaced. I checked the voltage and the batteries were about 1.4 volts each. I replaced them and the remote is working fine. I wonder if the batteries caused the remote to go to Safe Mode.

I had this problem as well. The push & hold the #2 advice worked like a charm! Thank you!!
Made it think I had just upgraded so all I then needed to do was clear those messages off and now it's back to normal.
I too suspect that low batteries "may" one reason that safe mode gets triggered. I'm just happy the remote is working properly again and now has a nice fresh set of batteries just in case.

Holding down the #2 button while replacing the batteries worked perfect! Thank you so much.

Our remote came off safe mode only when we held down the 2 button while removing and replacing the batteries. Holding the 2 button continuously.

My remote went into safe model on the display and even when I changed the batteries, nothing happens! What suggestions do you have to remedy this problem?
