Hello. 0B000D error during start-up indicates a 24VDC failure. This is generally caused by a failed DC power supply. There are 2 types of power supplies - 1 for the 1050C series and 1 for the 1050C Plus series. They can both be found at: HP Designjet 1050C 1055CM repair parts

The Designjet 1050C Plus does not need the hard disk drive to boot. When only the red light comes on, the firmware ROM is probably missing. Open the small panel on the back of the plotter to access the memory and ROM slots. If the FW ROM and memory are missing, you will need to buy them to make the plotter boot. By looking at the user guide, around the middle of 1998.

At the end of it, it says that the first edition was July 1998, so the printer was no doubt released around that same time.

check all connectors on main pca. check trailing cables on carriage assembly. main pca may be bad.
