How white? Stark blinding white? Or just too bright? The latter is normal. Just manually adjust the brightness when you plug it in using the 'fn' key and the icon that looks like 'decrease brightness' (usually a smaller sun or a sun with a down arrow).
Actually, I should have been more specific on this. The screen would go bright white or BSOD after a couple of minutes. Message boards insinuated bad OS or hard drive, or RAM, or BIOS. I replaced HD, installed fresh Win7 OS, and tested RAM by replacing. The same problems occured. The computer would work fine on battery only, plugged in it would crash within 5 minutes. Not wanting to replace the MB I installed a new battery and tried an alternate a/c adapter. No change. Finally broke down and replaced the mother board. Problem resolved.
