The following assumes you are familiar with the process of removing and installing IDE drives in computers. The CD burner in the Alesis is an IDE device, same as in a PC, and is fitted using same mounting hardware and cabling.
The CD burner isn't connected to the grey front panel flap, so if you open up the machine and release the CD drive from its mounting, and set it so you can see the front of it (ideally on some flat non-conductive material that you can sit on top of the machine) - there's <usually> enough flex in the connecting cables to do this, but....
Most CD drives have a 'release' button on the front (separate from the open/close button) which can be used in emergency to release a reluctant disc. Power on the alesis and press this button (usually done with a thin skewer, cocktail stick, or needle).
If the drive opens and releases your disc, then close it again, put the drive back in its mounting and resume operations with another disc.
If the drive hasn't released the disc, and you have a PC with a spare CD/DVD drive bay, you could try removing the drive from the Alesis altogether, place it in the PC, use the PC to eject the disc, then return the drive to the Alesis.
If the drive doesn't behave in the PC, it sounds like the drive has a mechanical problem and you need to just buy a new drive and fit it to the Alesis. Note - there's only a select list of drives that will work with the Alesis operating system, so make sure you get one that's on the list!
If you're not familiar with how to install and re-install IDE drives, do you have a local geek who builds PCs for a hobby, or a local PC store that offers such services? If so, they should be able to do it with their eyes shut.
SOURCE: dvd is stuck inside and drawer will not open
Yes, it was a piece of the addhesive dot that was stuck to the back of the disk. I unplugged the unit (of course), removed the 10 screws holding the cover on the chassis and that exposed the disk in its tray. I could not manually open the tray still, but I was able to remove the tape dot from the disk while it was still in its tray. All is well now.

Try pressing the HDMI button on the remote control to toggle the display output to something that your television will recognize. You can also try The progressive button and see if that helps. I am assuming you model is the XD-E500 model.
Testimonial: "That fixed it... Thank you very much... you are awesome"
SOURCE: DVD drawer does not open when you push button to open DVD drawer
The most likely cause is damage, which should be seen with the eye. It could be a belt, broken cogs/teeth in the sledge mechansim, or a micro leaf switch bent out of place.
