Usb not recognized , malfunctioned.

Whenever i connect my canon printer to my laptop it says USB NOT RECOGNIZED, MALFUNCTIONED. And the printer does not print or scan. Please help me,i have windows xp in my systyem.

    i have tried reinstalling the driver, but it shows the same problem, other usbs are worrking.. only this printer is giving me a tough time..

    Dell Printers are NOT compatable with Windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8 64 bit computers, I will have to try to sell to someone using older operating system and buy a HP!

You need to reinstall printer driver .
"USB NOT RECOGNIZED" error come when windows cant to find driver of a new device .

Does any other Device shows working with the USB port of your Laptop??

If yes, then please replace the Printer USB cable which is attached to laptop..

Otherwise, some IC need to be replaced if the USB port gone Bad... :(

First make sure that the USB cable is OK and use another if you have one. Then make sure that the laptops have working USB ports from Device Manager. If they are OK then try powering up the Canon again without the USB cable connected to see if any errors are reported and then plug it in to your laptop to see if it is recognised. Check the status of the Canon Print Driver settings. If this all fails then you may have defective USB ports on the Canon and will need to get them repaired.

"Delete the INFCACHE" has worked for me in the past.

Also I found that I was using a non USB 2.0 cable which caused the "unrecognized USB" problem. Once I used a proper USB 2.0 cable it was fine.

Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Also make sure if your device requires "DRIVERS" or if you have a CD download and install that before anything.

Turn off the CPU unplug the power cable and all usb cables, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Plug power cable back in, turn on CPU, plug in your usb devices.
