Question about Zanussi TC180W Electric Portable Dryer

Kenmore dryer isn't working

I was given a Kenmore electric dryer (no book or anything with it). It does not get hot and now it won't shut of. I can run it and a normal large load will be dry in about 2 1/2 cycles. Yesterday it stopped shuting off. I had no idea until I discovered that it had run all night. I checked the vent/hose and it is clear all the way out of the house. I was thinking element but then wasn't sure when it started to stay on. The timer gets right to the end, just stays there and keeps running. Help! This was to replace a broken one!

Okay I tried that and the air coming out of the dryer was stronger than what comes out of the vent hose but still no heat or shutting off. When we put it in the outlet had to be changed, a friend had one that worked with the plug. Could the fact that it was an older outlet have any effect on this? Or am I looking at a new element and something timer wise as well?

Was the previos dryer taking a long time to dry??? Make sure a high velocity of air comes from the dryer with the vent unhooked there may be a internal restriction causing the long drying times, if there is no restriction then it is in the home vent line. To verify that it is a vent issue unhook the vent and do a load of clothes if it drys in 40-60min it is the vent.

The heating is not working properly, not hot enough. I tried 3 hours, but the clothes still not dry. It is a 120V Kenmore dryer.

IF THIS IS AN ELECTRIC DRYER 110 VOLTS ISN;T RIGHT 208 VOLTS SHOULD BE MORE LIKE THE ANSWER. IT TAKES 208 VOLTS TO RUN THE HEATING ELEMENT AND 120 VOLTS FOR THE MOTOR
SOMETHING DOSN'T SOUND RIGHT THERE

You didn't mention if the dryer is getting hot.

If is getting hot, then shutting off, I agree with you.

If it is NOT getting hot, I would suspect the IGNITER ASSY

Kenmore dryer. Heats up intensely

Hi, It's an over heating motor that's cousing the thermal switch to trip, on the motor.

Motor retails for $150.
Labor for putting it in is $90.

It might just be worth replacing it.
Sorry for the bad news :(

Best of luck.

Cleaned vents, dryer gets very hot, shuts off w/o drying clothes

Sounds like a faulty operating thermostat. Only way is to test on a electric griddle that you can set the temperature to 150 deg and measure with a ohm meter.
