I assume your camera is on. Menu is showing and so on. Sometimes, you (accidentally) just turned the mode dail to another setting then automatic, or the one you are used to. If it then is to dark, the camera won't work. Put the dail on automatic (green camera logo) and try again. Also check if the lens is in the lock position. If you never changed any settings in the menu's just reset the camera to the factory settings and start over in automatic mode.

SOURCE: my Nikon D50 camera says

It thinks that the SD card is full - try re-formatting if you have no photos there. The SD functions the same as a PC hard drive, and if the directory 'tracks' are corrupt, anything could happen. Else try a new SD card.

SOURCE: coolpix s220 won't transfer pics via usb cable

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

SOURCE: nikon d3100 showing no sd card inserted message even after inserting it..please help

The only thing I can think of remove the SD Card, start camera, and go into the menu, check to make sure there are no pictures on the internal memory, if there are! erase them and restart camera and power off, re-install card and hopefully you are good to go. If no change! have the camera shop run a quick check.

SOURCE: My Nikon Coolpix S2550 says the battery is low when I need to use the flash - but I have fully charged the battery please help

I have a mains/USB charger and my Nikon Coolpix S2550 does not charge from it but WILL from a laptop. The clue is the flash LED should flash, on charge, slowly - less than one a second. The 'wall' charger makes that flash perhaps twice a second.
And of course the laptop will tell you the charge status.

How can i turn on my Nikon D3100?

Is the battery fully charged. What were you doing on it right before you shut it down. Also make sure your putting the battery i. The right way

Also you can\'t charge the battery by usb into a computer. You need to use the external wall charger.

Unfortunatly the d3100 does not contain am external reset button like the Nikon D3000 but this might help. Take out the sd card and battery and leave it out for a couple hours then, after a couple hours have past reinsert the Battery without the SD card. If it still doesn\'t work shine a flashlight into the battery holder to see if any of the metal connectors are bent.

The only logical explanation after that if it still doesn\'t work is that the battery died doesn\'t have to look damaged it can crap out anytime. I would try getting a new battery and putting it in. If you just got the camera you could tell the place you got it at and they should give you a new battery.

i hope I could help, your going to have to trial and error this one to see what gets it to work.

I have a Nikon D3100, won't let me take a pic...battery is fully charged n the card is in it worked most of the day n stopped working won't take a pic...I'm on vacation help...msb

Check to make sure that you have not set it for some sort of manual setting or delay. Also check to see whether it will take a picture if you use manual focus or another manual option. I had a Nikon D50 that would not shoot because the aperture lever had gotten knocked aside. I had to convince the camera to keep the lens at f22 to get it to shoot.

Nikon d3100 bran new battery wont finish charging !!

You have one of a few problems. Either your new battery is defective, which does occasionally happen, or there is a problem with your battery charger. The other possibility is that your camera has a problem; possibly a short circuit that is draining the battery. If you have a spare battery and it will take a charge, your new battery is probably bad.

Can someone help me on my nikon D3100 freeze problem?

New battery that is fully charged. My Nikon D3100 has had the problem of freezing every ten or so pics since it was a couple of months old. Still does it today after six months of use. I take a few hundred pics with it when shooting but only shoot once or maybe twice a month.

Have to take the battery out, put it back in etc. each time. Sometimes it allows me to power off and then back on but either way it's a pain in the rear and a serious "time waster".

I left my nikon D3100 outside with the tripod and i forgot to get it,then suddenly it got wet from the rain, what will i do?

Remove the battery imediately, the memory card and the lens. Place the camera body, lens and memory card in a warm dry and place for several days to dry out completely.
When the camers is dry, insert the battery, lens and memory card, turn on the camers and set the date and time.
If the camers does not work charge the battery and try again.
If it still does not work then you need to send it to the Nikon service centre for repair.

I have had my nikon for almost 2 years. Earlier today it worked at a sporting event and towards the end of the event it will not take a pic. Battery is charged, new sd card (not full). I turned it off,...

Hill, relax.

=)

You're in safe hands. All right, first of all, I need you to try this out, please.

Go to your settings, and reformat your SD card. From your camera, NOT computer.

Try taking the picture now.

I just got my Nikon D3100 and it wont turn on..why?? i didnt buy a memory card yet..doest it need memory card to turn on??

The battery ships in an uncharged state. Slip the battery into the charger until the it indicates it is fully charged. Install into the camera. The camera should power up without an SD/SDHC/SDXC type memory card installed - and should flash [-E-] in the viewfinder alerting you to the fact that no memory card is inserted.
