I replaced the Laser in the NAD C540 and the Plastic guide that moves the Laser assembly up and down when the tray opens and closes popped out. I tried for an hour to get it back in stripping gears (not really) and hearing all sorts of grinding as I attempt to adjust to work right. I jsut couldnt get all things to line up. is there a Guide to putting this tray back together with all parts working? thanks Larry [email protected]

SOURCE: NAD CD 5425 - No Spin - Sometimes

I've dealt with this type issue quite a bit.
Believe it or not the drawer belt needs to be changed.
If the drawer isnt drawn all the way into the unit...the disc motor wont spin and ....you get rejected

SOURCE: NAD C541 tray does not open.

if i'm right it will have the sony mechanism so if you take the lid off and unscrew the 2 screws, 1 at either end of the cd clamp and remove it, you should see part of a large cog just under the front of the cd tray, try turn this clockwise and the tray should open.
once open, you should be able to see a small plastic cover, loosen this slightly and replace the belt as this is prone to slipping on this mechanism stopping the cd tray from opening and also clamping the disc properly when closed.

hope this helps?

SOURCE: Nad C542 Troubleshooting

found same problem with mine, solution .. place clean paper over the optic, then a magnet, leave for a few seconds, the build up of static causes a magnetic field in the optic preventing it tracking, have cured a few other brands with this as well .. shows manufactures are putting inferior parts in to their players, hope this helps !!

My xbox360 won't read disc's it just says open tray

I learned this from a Youtube video and this did the trick for me. Hopefully, it will solve it for your X-Box 360 too! 1. Put disc into X-Box 360. 2. Turn X-Box 360 off. 3. Open tray. 4. Take disc out. 5. Slam Tray 6. Turn off X-Box 360 (Immediately after slamming the tray shut) 7. Turn on X-Box 360 _______________________________________________________ Your dvd drive probably has a bad motor. There are three motors inthere. One moves the tray. One moves the laser and another spins theDVD. If the tray ejects than that motor is fine. If you hear the discspinning then that motor is fine. Take the top off the dvd drive andsee it the laser moves when you close the tray it should move slightlythe laser should bob up and down and light up if none of that happensyou have a bad laser drive motor or bad laser. The solution is to buy agood DVD drive the same as your make and change the pcb boards (thecircuit board in the DVD drive) make sure yor pcb stays with yourconsole as the motherboard and pcb are keyed together.

I have nad c541i,for last few days,it not reading the cd,as the disc goes in,there's a bit sound from the spindle which goes off after 5 secs, but doesn't read the disc, the screen keeps flashing like --...

the sound you say is the spindle motor, is actually the loading motor trying to lift the whole laser mechanism up towards the puck to clamp the disc as there is not enough tension left in the belt.
help it along by hand and you'll see what i mean.

hope this helps?

Hi My Dell Laser 1815 is having a paper jam problem each time it tries to load the paper from the tray.

The paper tray itself is probably missing a small peice. Look towards the front of the tray... there is a guide (about 2" wide) that, if you push down, it springs back and forth. My tray was missing a small peice of flat metal that popped off. The feed roller rests on this piece when the tray is loaded. If the piece is missing, then the roller is to close and the paper cannot make it through into the printer. Still looking for the part number....

My NAD C251i CD player isn't reading disks - platform stops short

To fix it, you need to replace the spindle motor top bearing. The bearing is worn and the player mistracks as the armature moves about under the changing drive conditions. Makes the player mistrack and skip. Because the disc is spinning fast.

Replacing the bearing should resolves the problem.

Hope this helps and have a great day!

Tray will not stop opening and closing

You have to open the cabinet ..with the power off!! with tray open look at the laser it should be in the cd home position..move the laser toward away from the spindle motor or turntable.you should see a switch with a cover over it,it may be black or white or clear..the is your laser home switch..with your finger or small screw driver gentely push the switch towards you or bend it towards you.with the cover off.plug the unit up.Watch the laser as it moves away from you towards the cd spindle, it it stops and the tray moves in, and the cd mech chucks .you should see the laser turn on and see the objective lens move up and down..if it does not..and it continues with your original problem the you have to retime the tray and loading gear..try this first..

Not Recognising a CD

NAD CD platters tend to go dry on the guides, stopping the bottom CD clamp from fully engaging. Disconnect the signal and power leads and undo the four screws connecting the transport to the bottom of the case. Remove and get some very fine grease and smear it lightly on all the runners and guides. Also look at the crank which causes the bottom clamp to move up and down, turn the flywheel by hand and watch it move, see where the plastic lug moves to cause the bottom clamp to move. Grease that too. Wipe any spare grease off so only the minimum is used. Do not use oil. Dean Beedell
