SOURCE: MY LG 42 INCH LCD WAS DAMAGED THE SCREEN AN OBJECT

it depends on the severity to know what all is damaged, is the "object" embedded in the screen still, did it crack the screen, do you see anything on the screen, And we will need to have the exact Make/Model of TV to suggest any parts or prices/repairs, I'm sorry that happened to you, I am ultra paranoid about that happening to mine (52"), I hope this helps, please give a fixya rating if it helps solve your problem

SOURCE: I have an LG Scarlet

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV. Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired ofcourse) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox,Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 yearsinstead of 10-20. The capacitors failprematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in allsorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems. Here are some options for you. 1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is itunder warranty?) 2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cordplugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad capsreplace the entire board. The entireboard costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. Theycan be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though. 3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill. Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourselfit will save you hundreds. This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be. I have a Tip/How TO tutorialon this site that may also help. Itgives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this isyour board you are in luck. It'scalled: Fixingthe Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to helpguide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help. Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.Kaufman605

My 42 inch lg lcd t.v will turn off after about a hour of being on and then it will take a while to turn back on it does this all the time i need it fixed. What is the issue?

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

My 37" LG scarlet television

Hello,

It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this IC is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.

Take care in solving the problem and hope this will helpout

Tv keeps turning off

Scenario 1: The TV turns on then shuts right off
  • In this case, the power supply unit is being loaded down by any of the boards it supplies. A short circuit is being detected in any of these boards. These boards are connected to the indicated connectors on the power supply unit shown below.96540c1.jpg
  • The resistance, both in reverse polarity, of the cables from the boards specially the ones with indicated voltages need to be checked. Short circuit is present when resistance on both instances is zero.
  • The board with the indication of a short circuit must be replaced.
Scenario 2: The TV turns on then shuts off after some time
  • A heat sink overheats. Make sure the TV is placed at least 4 inches away from the walls. This will allow proper air circulation. You can also provide a fan. Have it checked by a qualified technician to prevent further damage.
  • The power supply is faulty. It is usually caused by leaky or bad capacitors like the ones shown below.

  • Replace the capacitors with the same specifications.
Warning: Service of a qualified technician is necessary to carry out the troubleshooting and repair to avoid personal injury and further damage to the unit.
