My onkyo ta-rw414 left deck won't play. I found it

My onkyo ta-rw414 left deck won't play. I found it has both pressure rollers engaged when forward or reverse play is pressed. If I lift a pressure roller, it will play in the opposite direction. It rewinds both directions fine. It has a new belt.

SOURCE: Tape deck won't play.

Hi...
From being a Pro-tech and working on these and other like them I'd say it's the main belt+ idler wheel that has worn out.
Very challenging job to do..Like knightstar7 said

SOURCE: NAKAMICHI CASSETTE DECK 1 NOT PLAYING?

it has probably thrown the capstan belt and will require a new belt fitted. the transport relies on capstan rotation to engage play. a separate reel motor operates ff/rew and takeup funtions

The mechanism need work and so bringing it to a tape deck repair shop is the only answer if you want it to work again. Check the reputation of the place you take it to on the internet- a lot of places charge money but never fix the unit.

I have a onkyo cassette tape deck ta 2600,when you push play on the cassette,it would play the tape for half of a second and stop

Sounds like the cassette tape itself is too tight to play, try fast forwarding or rewinding the tape in the deck all the way to the end of tape several times before trying to play. This may solve the problem

My cassette deck Onkyo model Ta 2060 is working slowly

HELLO

By the fault you describe this sounds very much like a belt problem. Take the case off the deck and check the belt(s). Some decks can use more than one belt and you need to look at their condition.

Are they too slack around pulleys maybe? Belts don't last forever and I'm not too sure of the age of your deck. But personally, I would change them all.

Make sure the tape path is clean as well, clean heads, pinch roller and capstan.

Onkyo TA-2700 - Won't Play Tapes

Open the deck and look for the copper colored leaf switches (above the plastic comb) that get corroded / dirty over the years.. Clean them with deoxide or similar and your are most likely good to go..

Onkyo TA-207 3-head cassette deck

The gearing and rubber parts involved in FF or REW vs. play are different. This unit should be overhauled and all of the rubber parts replaced.
